Italian synthesist Caterina Barbieri will return to the festival, after a memorable show on Braga’s medieval saloon in 2018, that still resonates today in the memory of those who were present. Barbieri will present her new record and live show, Spirit Exit, with contributions by visual artists Marcel Weber (MFO) and Ruben Spini.

Making their Semibreve and Portuguese debut will be the duo of François J. Bonnet and Stephen O’Malley, whose collaboration on Cylene (Editions Mego, 2019) consist of one of the most compelling pieces of music of the last years.

British artist Maxwell Sterling, who has been collaborating with figures like Leslie Winer and institutions such as the V&A Museum, will also make his festival debut, presenting a special audiovisual show in collaboration with visual artist Stephen McLaughlin, based on his recent discography, namely Turn of Phrase and Hollywood Medieval.

North-American duo Ben Vida & Lea Bertucci will perform material of their collaborative work based on modular synthesis and manipulated tape, masterfully put on record in their new work Murmurations (Cibachrome editions, 2022).

Semibreve will also present an unique opportunity to attend a solo performance for electronics and organ by the Portuguese experimentalist David Maranha, who over the past decades has collaborated with figures like Phill Niblock, Z’EV, Chris Corsano, David Grubbs or Carla Bozulich.

The festival will also showcase installations, artists talks, workshops. Further details for these to follow.
