Replacing my SMSL and Topping E50 DACs with the WIIM Pro that now has room correction?

If good, then this must be a serious consideration. Recieved wisdom from these pages is that room correction outweighs SNR etc. Several DACs and amps are already below average human audibility level.of difference. Looking for balancing thoughts and ideas from people who aren't just readers like me.

I'm not sufficiently confident enough to use REW even after downloading and reading. The seemingly simple to use of Wiim Pro could be what I've been waiting for. Cheapaudioman summary here:

If it is good,I might sell on my SMSL and Topping DACs (different rooms) and replace with 2x WIIM Pro's

C'mon @TOPPING-Service please tell me that you have something in the pipeline to upgrade existing kit?

Hi,
It is correct that room correction, applied sensibly, has a material impact on sound quality.

The DAC in the WiiM Pro PLUS is good - no audible change from good Topping or SMSL (you don't say which models, but it doesn't really matter)

You should check, but I don't think that the WiiM offers automatic Room correction - that functionality is in the WiiM Amp and the new WiiM Ultra.

The WiiMs (all of them) offer 10 band PEQ but you need to measure - umic microphone + REW - yourself.
It's not really that complicated, and it's a good skill to have.

Replacing DACs with WiiMs will give you multi-room streaming and a nice app. You won't lose any sound quality but you will have to measure yourself to get the best out of them.
Or get WiiM Ultras ... slight risk as they are not released yet.
Automatic Room correction will also need an Apple device btw (Android to follow...)

It's never simple :)

The review by cheapaudioman shows automatic room correction with the WIIM Pro. Three options being Harman, B&K or Neutral. The app uses your phone microphone, and plays a "sweep" to automatically give the PEQ. I think that's the quantum difference for simple folk like me.

I stand corrected :) WiiM moves fast!

Agree - room correction is available - nice!
My other point is still valid - it's the Pro PLUS that has the better DAC and is probably worth the extra.

What a time to be into hifi!

I would have gotten one myself if I had an Apple phone
They need to release a microphone with the pro and ultra

@Bleib @JeremyFife Topping have a DAC that allows EQ, but this new room correction development by WiiM is truly market disruption. I'm just waiting on a few more reviews before pressing "buy". But might not even wait that long!
