Un-mastered does not mean no reverb. Reverb can, and often is added to individual instruments and voices.

In Cafe Blue case, it does ... the UN-mastered version actually claims the elimination of the reverb that was mastered onto the commercial release.

Not to play semantics, but eliminating the reverb from the original master does not mean reverb wasn't used on individual instruments and voices in the mix.
