An email from RABAS mentioned that initially Boss DAC, MiniBoss, DigiOne and DigiOne Signature would be available followed by Kali in December and some others including new products down the road.

I'd say just hang back and hope for their success because having more choice in this product space benefits everyone.

I'd say just hang back and hope for their success because having more choice in this product space benefits everyone.

Yes, I'll revisit their site every now and then. Would be interested in either a Boss2 or maybe the USBridge Signature Player from them.

Installing moOde should be feasible on both of them I believe?

It can be done... it may be slow at initializing tha CD, but nevertheless it can be done - with a trick.
Search the forum for moodecdplayer, long story short: it is about a script that creates a play queue of all the tracks in the CD (and no, no metadata / album art fancy...)

As @Falco said - think of something like the Innuos streamer/servers. Note that it doesn't have to be headless - if you have a monitor etc. connected then it can use that for control too. It just shows the same web interface in a fullscreen browser. I haven't tried it with a touchscreen, but it would probably work.

Daphile is targeted at regular PC's (x86) whereas moOde is targeted at raspberry pi's (arm based).
Personally I prefer raspberry pi based as they are generally smaller and consume much less power.
But regular PC can be nice as well as you can for instance use thin clients and have music storage inside. These tiny computers like a nuc or from Dell, Lenovo or HP are very suitable and energy efficient as well.

piCorePlayer with the LMS option is broadly equivalent to daphile if you prefer a Pi.
Thin clients can be good, but need a bit of research on what internal storage they support, plus any quirks they may have (like refusing to boot without a keyboard if your BIOS is the wrong version, or production variants with the same model name). https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/hware/hardware.shtml has a lot of info. See this post for a bit about the Wyse R90L for example.
