Making a trip to LA to try some speakers at Vintage King

I'm looking for upgrades to my KH310s - which is a tall order, FWIW, they're very good for how much they cost.

Here's what I'm after:
- Full range sans subs
- Enough SPL capability to not need subs to be reasonably clean
- My room is very well treated, so ultra-controlled directivity is not a must, though definitely preferred.

Right now, my list has:
- KH420
- 8351/8361
- 1237
- D&D 8C
- Kii Three

What am I missing?

Mate, the 8381s are about 7 times my budget.

I know you weren’t satisfied with the measurements of the Ex Machinas — still, I’m interested in what you think of how they sound in direct comparison to the other studio monitors.

You might want to consider the Buchardt A500SE or A700. They go pretty low and the master tunings with integrated room-Tuning are awesome features

KEF LS60s aren't quite full range (more like 30hz) but if they happen to have them set up, they are prob worth a listen. Would probably sound awesome in a well-treated room. But I somewhat doubt they would outshine the 8C or KH420.

If they sound better than practically everything I wouldn't mind some possible small cosmetic defects

Nope, for this kind of money fully unacceptable… including the terrible customer service in general

I'll give 'em a shot, but I haven't much liked Amphions in the past.
