I thought the original Hilo was a super bit of kit, thanks @MaxwellsEq .

I think it was quite a game changer - especially at the ADC side of things. This looks like better clocks (lower jitter perhaps, but that was already pretty good!) and lower noise and distortion (and clipping?) on analogue inputs. If all this is true I suspect it will be at the top or near the top of interfaces and perhaps an alternative to the RME Adi2 Pro

It was a long time ago but I have find memories of it, bit before it’s time for the domestic market but now…

I hope either the Lynx or an owner will send one in for review. I made a few recordings using the original Hilo, and was really pleased with it!

hilo 1 review was great thank youwe would like to see hilo 2 reviewed, should it be possible in the near future ?

Most of Amir's reviews of gear are from gear people send to him. Either makers or owners of the gear. So he would review the HiLo 2 if the company or an owner of one sends it in to him.

thanks for the information, hopefully someone will make it happen

Hi Everybody. I've got Lynx Hilo 2. It is awesome DAC. I can't measure it, I don't have an equipment for that. But I can hear it. And I'm telling you I've never heard anything so transparent in terms of DAC. It plays really nice with my Adam Audio A8H. I can hear a lot of details in music, also I can hear lower bass (in comparison with my previous DAC). I really glad that I've changed my previous DAC to Lynx Hilo 2. I think this is an end game for me as a listener. I've downloaded a new firmware on it, all went smooth. It has a good, really convenient menu. Only one thing that I'm confused with is an app on Mac for control Line Hilo 2 - HiloRemote. It looks like an app from 2000. I think it is ok in terms of functionality. But because I don't need to use it (I can do whatever I want on a display of Hilo), it's ok with me.

I had the original Hilo for a while, and it was great. May I ask what was your previous DAC?

I suppose a lot of people start to throw rotten tommatos at me for that, but ok )))
It was an RME ADI-2/4 PRO SE. And I think I need to say that this is my own preference (my ears, and my perception), I don't want to insult an owners of RME equipment in any way. As I think RME ADI-2/4 PRO SE has DSP inside which cuts some audio. I can't hear details with it. Music become not natural, without as I mention before details.

I am not one who will throw rotten tomatoes at you! I'm an audiophile for 60 years, a scientist by profession, and I believe that measuring audio equipment is terribly important. Yet, I am frequently impressed that improvements to what should already be "perfect" performance can seem to make a difference.

I asked because I wanted know whether your previous DAC it was something like the RME (by all accounts, a fine DAC) or some $100 cheapie. You've answered the question, and I thank you for that.

By the way, when I sold my Hilo, it was not for sonic reasons. I had other equipment I wanted to use, and the Hilo was having issues with the USB ports of my ancient Windows computer. It was a fine piece of gear, one that I used both for playback and for recording. The routing flexibility available through the touchscreen was something special, too.
