Blues Essentials?

Much to my detriment, I've only recently discovered my love for Blues music. I've been pouring through BB King and Muddy Waters, and love it. But I don't know much about the genre. What other artists should I explore? Is there any good modern Blues, or is all the good stuff older?

Indeed! I never realized how close some of the tunes (Lemon Song, Bring it on Home to Me) were to these Blues classics....crazy....but I started with rock n' roll and never realized this foundation.... My loss.
