One of my favorite bands and demo tracks:

Very nice and open sound (good characteristics of open back design).

Cowgirl In The Sand (Live At Massey Hall 1971) by Neil Young. http://shz.am/t44910136

Nice but gives that dipole diffused sound which I don't like that much.

Overall, pretty good.

Fascinating, given that it's clearly dipolar only below 1k or so, pure point source controlled directivity horn monopole >1k, where spatial rendering is most prominent.
Glad you liked them anyway.:)

Here again I'm initially tricked - left side photo #2

Took me a moment to separate the speaker from the billboard behind it.

I'm like WTF is that?

---

Does Tampa ever get a show? I'd like to attend one someday, just for the novelty of it.

The orange-ish one on the background poster looks like Kenny from Southpark.

No, but between the SAS and Sarasota clubs (100+ members), you can hear pretty much everything you're seeing there.
One gent is considering those Emerald Physics, another owns the top of line Spatials, etc, etc.

As an aside, "These Bones" is one of those tracks that on MLs, the singers sound like they have mouths 2' wide.:)
Not my cup of tea, YMMV.

Would be better if they ditched the Lynk metal oxide resistors.

So these have a co-axial tweeter/midrange. However the midrange is what 12", that must cause some issues with beaming, and other problems.
As long as the directivity of the cone is matched to the tweeter, no.
However, it seems that the XO might be closer to 800Hz.
Doubtful the cone can hold the tweeter directivity that low. So the system is a pure point source monopole to at least >800-1k with that compression tweeter. The motor assembly/frame on back side of mid cone will form an acoustic low pass, so basically, the system is monopole, with "dipolar" radiation <800hz, maybe lower.
Did you hear the type of "dipole diffuse" sound Amir saw, or did you perceive other issues?
