This movie is about how music can be used to bring life back to those suffering from severe Dementia, Alzheimer and other mental disorders. It can be seen on Netflix.

Emmnauel Kant said that music "is the quickening art." In other words, music is the art-form with the greatest ability to stimulate the human mind.

My recently deceased demented 95 y/o mother enjoyed listening to whatever I played.

I bought a pair of Infinity P-363, and resurrected the old Pioneer SX-780, added a spare Sony HDRadio, and even added a transmitter off my preamp to match what was playing in the musical room, set up at the foot of her bed.

A short video of her listening to some Sex Mob...

You are a Saint. You'll go straight to heaven when you die. :)

I sincerely doubt that, and generally speaking, I feel there are two choices:

1) gone.

Or...

2) nobody knows, so be ready to be surprised.

Ladies and gentlemen:
Elvis has just left the building

Elvis has just left the building --
Those are his footprints, right there
Elvis has just left the building --
To climb up that heavenly stair

He gave away Cadillacs once in a while;
Had sex in his underpants,
Yes, he had style!
Bell-bottom jump-suits?
That's them in a pile,
But he don't need 'em now,
'Cause he's makin' Jesus smile!

Elvis has just left the building --
(There he goes!)
Those are his footprints, right there
Elvis has just left the building --
To climb up that heavenly stair

The Angels all love him,
He brings them relief
With droplets of moisture
From his handkerchief!
Cher'bim 'n ser'phim
Whizz over his head --
Jesus, let him come back!
We don't want Elvis dead!

So what if he looks like a wart-hog in heat?
He knows we all love him --
We'll just watch him eat,
So take down the foil
From his hotel retreat,
And bring back The King
For the man in the street!

Elvis has just left the building --
Those are his footprints, right there
Elvis has just left the building --
He's up there with Jesus, in a big purple chair

She passed away @ 99.5 (grand ma - Geraldine) - she was a pianist, a singer, a humorist, and that day @ the park (Montreal) she sang while I was playing the harmonica. She too was tapping her feet.
Normally I wouldn't share this, but Ray and Michael were inspiring.

Wow, you have good genes. You have a long way to go, I'm afraid. You probably made her very happy that day. That's awesome.

Amazing info on the power of music for the aged! I live in a 55 and over community and sadly there are many I can share this with.
Though not demented, I served as at-home hospice care giver for both my mom and dad in their final months on earth.
Knowing the difficulties presented to a care giver my heart goes out to you both and to anyone else that has stepped up
to hold the hand of loved ones on their final journey.
God Bless You

HEAVEN: everyone is talking Heaven.
I have some thoughts about the way Heaven is portrayed for the audiophile / music lover.
First Who listens to harp everyday. Well everyone is playing harp, and most people are not that good at any instrument.
Second Everyone is singing; did everyone gain the talent of Whitney Houston & Alexander O'Neal [both before drugs took-over]?
Third The fashion; who is going to settle for that?
Fourth Flying around with wings; people are to distracted to drive their vehicles properly & they are given wings.
Sounds like HELL to me.

iridium.

Great music Ray.

Great music starts with the composition. Too often that doesn't seem to be a very important part of the equation, which limits my enthusiasm for much of what is recommended as music.

I think I'll put on the disc right now...
