    Hypex Nilai gain

Hi everyone, Can someone explain how the gain is implemented in the Nilai power amplifiers? The amplifier has built-in preamp providing three levels of gain (12, 22 and 28 dB). You can adjust it using a switch. But HOW is this sensitivitylevel built in? Thanks for explaining me

    Gain matching question

I'm trying to use a sensitive pair of headphones (Focal Utopia, 80 ohms impedance, 104 db sensitivity) with an amp that provides 20 db of gain (gain is fixed: no low/high/medium/etc). The DAC has 4 output voltage options (via RCA), which I believe are controlled in the analog domain: 0.124 Vrms...

Neumann KM184 + SSL2 = weak signal which requires a lot of gain

I have a Neumann KM184 SDC mic connected to a SSL2 audio interface through a 10 meter Mogami xlr-cable and notice that it requires me to set the gain to about 7-8 out of 10 to land at levels of about -24 to -18 db. Being aware that mic signals are weak but given that the preamp gain of SSL2 is...

Is 2Vrms enough to achieve the maximum SPL when using the -10dBV input of JBL 305p MKii? +6dBV = 1.995Vrms?

    Gain staging without a meter

When I connect a channel strip into an interface which LEDs are known to be less than perfectly precise, what is the "best" way to detect that signal is getting distorted? I would imagine passing a sine wave of some sort, but how exactly / using which software?

DAC direct to Monoblock Power Amplifier Gain Calculations (Number crunching needed)

Hi everyone, (Sorry mistakes edited) After reading many forum threads online and with the help of calculators etc, calculations made but think I have some errors. I apologise for the long post, I will do my best to keep it concise. Objective: With the limited specifications available, I would...

    High GAIN=Higher gain=More compression?

So, i didn't well speak what Gain level on specification on amplifier means exactly, maybe it act like a sort of compression on sound quality? For example: JDS Atom Labs 1.0W 32ohm: Low gain=x1.0/High Gain=x4.5 THX AAA 789 Unbalanced 1,8W 32ohm: Low gain=x0,33=-10dB / Medium Gain=x1.0=0dB /...
