Hi Guys. I thought I'd share some eye opening audio forum fun facts. Let's look at the valuation of a few of the most popular audio forums on the web:

Audiosciencereview.com: Current valuation $9.95

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/audiosciencereview.com

audioshark.com: Current valuation: $92.66

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/audioshark.com

whatsbestforum.com: Current valuation: $38400

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/whatsbestforum.com

computeraudiophile.com: Current valuation: $66000

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/computeraudiophile.com

diyaudio.com: Current valuation: $246960:

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/diyaudio.com

head-fi.org: Current valuation: $1,646,075.52

http://www.netvaluator.com/www/head-fi.org

What you you guys suppose it will take to surpass Head-fi?

More threads about headphones?
Keith.

The most popular threads on there are about general purpose DAC's, and digital audio interfaces. Not even headphone related stuff. Over 1.5 million page views per day is pretty impressive! And it's mostly technical discussions as well!

I think it will be impossible to surpass head-fi. Head-fi is an advertising machine. There is no room for objective data or even negative opinions there.

Try http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php if you want a more objective headphone site. As can be seen by the valuation though, being a audio science leaning forum doesn't pay nearly as well as being a purely subjective one.

Yeah but the only reason they advertise is because the amount of traffic they have they can make a fortune. But people don't go on there because of the advertisements. The valuation is based on traffic, not advertisements.

seelling out, being insincere and ...,

I don't think Head-fi has sold out or is insincere. I find it's a great place to get 100% unbiased feedback on Dac's. It's actually the only place to find discussions on the awesome value Asian DAC's on the market. There was a good thread going on WBF, but it was shut down. Was getting too many views I guess. Same with #2 on the list Diyaudio. You won't find any other forum with as many top rate engineers actively posting.

The worth is based 100% on traffic. The reason there's traffic, is because of the content in the forum.

People go there for advice but the way the site is structured is to promote products instead of giving genuine advice. Many posters get banned for negative comments about products. How do you compete with a cult? Besides, the headphone niche is much larger than the audio science one

I've only ever gone on there to read about DAC's and digital interfaces. I never seen signs of people being shunned for honest feedback.

your data is wrong, go back to the site and 'update' the data and you will see figures are different now. WBF is worth $19,404.00 by their reckoning.

I did once see some FR plots of various headphones, if I recollect the most expensive Abyss? we're amongst the worst if not the worst.
Obviously subjectively the best!

They are constantly updated stats. You can look at a number of sites for feedback.

no they are not, you have to click on the update button, its says 'last updated' 2 years ago etc.

unless you think WBF just dropped $1900 in a few min:eek:

i cant be arsed to prove it, just look at the diyaudio stats , take a screenshot or save page then update with the 'update' button.
currently last updated 2 years and 7 months ago.

Ahh I see what happened. Someone updated whatsbestforum on the site after I made the original post. So now the stats are current. The computer audiophile stats were 2 years old and I just updated. Now it says it;s worth $161000. Look at where it says "updated last" and refresh if it's old and it will do a deep search for current stats.
