Please do not invoke the most over-rated jazz recording of all time.

(yes, I have a copy on LP)
Which is? (think I missed the reference)

I actually enjoy that recording, I also have Volumes 2 and 3 and play them for pleasure. I don't think I've ever played anything just for the sound.

As good as amateur bands get.

As an amateur jazz musician, that's my issue.

They sound like amateurs.

As jazz music, it's completely mediocre.

At that level of musicianship, I can just go play live with my buddies and have more fun playing than listening.

For recorded music, I like to listen to musicians that are aspirational and inspirational. Basically, people who are better than the people I recreationally gig with.

I can give it props for recording engineering, though.

Have you tried any of the airports in India?
Nah, Delhi and Bombay still beat Newark, arguably JFK too...
Although my hometown airport ; now that's a special category of hell! (PNQ)

Fair enough. I actually enjoy recording and listening to amateur performances.

Yes, and I didn't mind it. While it certainly gets more hype than it deserves, I think it's a stretch to call it the most over-rated recording of all time.

Over-rated *jazz* recording of all time.

The most over-rated recording of any genre is anything by Yoko Ono.

And yet in none of those listening spaces did we see one of these. Maybe there’s hope for them yet? Their media rooms remind me of Heironymous Bosch paintings.
Note...made in Germany...Perhaps found at significant discount at the Berlin Airport
Duty Free store. See what I did there?

This is one of the best, most ridiculously confusing threads ever.

A useless post, but I’m known to eat empty calories...so I’m just promoting my brand.
Kind of like Darko. ; ) Or Yoko Ono

I give up. My ADD has been thrown way out of wack...but I’m relieved the Jazz over rated argument wasn’t over Kind of Blue. That would have shaken my world view even more than it already is. I’m going back to bed...y’all are way too much.
