Guess I'm a dinosaur, I also still miss the days when I could get the optional oiled walnut cases for all my gear. :(

I am trying to arrange a 'shootout' between JBLs passive 4367 and their active M2, winner will stay loser
goes back from whence it came.

What's the status now?

Long story, JBL ( domestic)UK would rather sell direct , they appear reticent to lend equipment but have no problem contacting my potential customers direct.
Pro division are much more forthcoming, I am hopeful we might have some M2's here.

Monoprice:
The crossover is at 3.3 KHz
50 Hz ~ 20 kHz (-10dB)

4367:
CROSSOVER FREQUENCIES 700 Hz
FREQUENCY RESPONSE (-6DB) 30 Hz – 40 kHz

$320 vs $15000

---

This might be the more logical comparison speaker:

t393_ef5808afa21b1cf99603f233ac746f1a.jpg

Frequency Range (-10 dB) 41 Hz - 18 kHz
Crossover Frequency 2.2 kHz

$299 (or so) each.

You do want genuine JBL, don't you?

Frequency Range (-10 dB) 41 Hz - 18 kHz

Audio is a serious business, there is no joke with music reproduction from an audiophile forum. ;):D
_______

I have never own JBL speakers, but I'm interested in that shoot-out. ...And also on Michael's comments from his own pair in his own room....with fine tuning.

QSC is mostly famous for their pro amplifiers. They compete heavily with Harman's Crown line for example.

Sound reinforcement gear, not home audio. They started with amps a few decades ago, branched out into speakers. They're considered a step up from JBL, etc., but I don't know that they sound much better. I have the K8s because they have a ton of headroom in a small package, with wide enough dispersion that I can get away with doing solo and small ensemble gigs without carrying floor monitors. 8" woofer, horn, DSP, and 1000 watts of class D per speaker. $650 each. You could stick them in a swoopy floor-standing cabinet with high gloss paint and probably convince some people they're "high end." :) But they certainly wouldn't stand up to an M2 system.

Just got a chance to look at the K8s, that's a lot of gear for the $.
All the local Guitar Centers show them as "likely in stock" so maybe I'll get a chance to hear them at some point. Shame I no longer have rooms for secondary systems to play with. :(
Cheers Tim

Would have to be a personal home install. No M2 dealers in FL. :(

7 pages of flopping willies on the breeze and no shootout?!

BTW Laurence Dickie is not a yacht furniture 'loudspeaker' designer. The man does actual work.
