What do people think about Monitor Audio 50 speakers?

I picked these up for setting up for a desk system small compact. I paid total of around £40/U$50 on special. The speakers are ok for acoustic, radio movies etc..... anything too busy it struggles in mids. It's weird as what I paid for them can I grumble? Only 20odd pounds per speaker! They are back to £69/U$87.
