Sometimes things can get "too equal" to the detriment of the fans and excitement.
Car's all so equal that they run in one big pack around the track, lap after lap, passing near impossible. Only thing that shakes things up is a driver mistake or accident .
Remember the days of the manufacturer wars, you were a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc guy. You couldn't wait to see what your fav would bring out next. The Ford's big 429 cammer or it's hemi, Chryslers winged monsters, etc. Nope it wasn't always equal, but it was FUN!
Now we have a situation where a non-hardcore fan like Ray says,
A couple years back Nascar made the announcement that they were going to back off all the handcuffs they had put on drivers, they were going to let the "boys be boys" but that never really happened. Why'd they call Earnhardt Sr "The Intimidator"? Cause if he was behind you and faster, if you kept blocking him, he'd put your a-s in the wall. LOL That's the stock car racing, rubbing is racing mentality that made it the #1 spectator sport in the world. Now things have changed, Why?
I'm looking for good things from the new scoring rules package. Hope the fact that there will be an increase in yellow flags doesn't put a damper on things in the future. Stock car racing fans need something to scream about again.

And he is close enough to right. Rarely is there anything a manufacturer can do that's worth getting excited over.
