In Glendale, on Grand Central Avenue and Flowers there is a very large Disney R&D campus.
Since Covid everybody is gone: the campus is empty.
Congratulations Disney.

It's just a multi-purpose old commercial building that is probably well past its prime. The owner clearly has plans for the site and it's his to do with what he chooses.

A big fire sale of all the valuable collectible stuff will hopefully happen and then the bulldozers will come soon afterwards.

A pity, but you can't keep everything in this world.

ILM properties were something of an open secret in Marin county. In one location in the Canal neighborhood, there used to be a crimson Imperial Guard storm trooper costume mannequin that you could see through the window if you walked past on the sidewalk, but if you hung around too long, the security guys would show up in a golf cart and ask you politely to keep moving. There was also a really great sandwich shop nearby that baked their own sourdough bread throughout the day - that's what I'm nostalgic for.

Marin county is a funny place; for sleepy wealthy suburbia, some important late 20thC pop culture was made there. At a garage sale I once bought a set of JBL D-130 and DLH-175 potato mashers, and I always half wondered if they were ex-Wall of Sound. Around the same time, I bought an old NeXT workstation out in Fairfax; an odd place for that fancy workstation to end up, except for the relative proximity of Pixar across the bridge in Point Richmond, and the fact that their Renderman software started on the NeXT.

not even from meteor impact , maybe lucas should transport the original THX dub stage to skywalker ranch , buy cutting into secctions and transporting it all , not impossible just complex complicated but not impossible or lucas can buy the whole area from the guy that owns it , sorted
