I had these lying around since 90s and use to test dodgy amps.
Paper cones and cheap!
I was talking about sleeper cars like v8 into the smallest cars.
So I decided to polish a lump of coal.
Parts 40 dollars roughly.
crossover cheaper than replacing caps.
Tweeters still waiting for delivery was biggest cost 25 dollars pair.
Speakers posts couple of dollars just for convenience for banana cables for plugging.
Misc crimps extended as I had to painfully only use the tweeter hole because the point was to not change or break the cosmetically box. (80mm circumference)
Wadding had spare.
My solder was more expensive as I use pure silver reel.
I left one speaker untouched.
It's just for fun but initial test bass is tighter and smoother as expected with higher rated filters.
Tweeter is weakest link 6ohm paper one is clipping at loud volumes.
I'll report back once I swap out the tweeter as this would help the most specs in picture on attachment.

An opulent spec on these Aiwa. Usually such boomboxes employed a single capacitor on the tweeter afaik.

Yes with my years of looking at speakers from Aiwa, towards the take over from Sony.
They improved the speaker connections from their fixed wire to pressure clips for any amplification hook ups!
Ones with these have a better crossover on breadboard :D
Shame Sony felt a takeover was the easiest way of killing competitors.
I still own a Aiwa AD-F990 :)

Second set bought as the first never came so another 25 dollars.
Claiming refund on the first pair, but will go through the rings of fire for refund for no delivery.
I tried removing plastic and got top half off the lower is glued in so surgery is needed will saw off the tabs, but I like paper woofers sound. Might stop as the best upgrade was filling the cab to stop the resonances in the cabs.
Any hoot these came out DC resistance of about 4.1Ohms both match ordered 6ohms but raised the question it still falls in the boundary of 4ohms and 6ohms what do you think?
I'm running them for a few days and after one day they have loosened up and getting clearer.
Diameter is 78mm fits fine as I lined the hole with neoreprene to seal it better.
I'll post a vid more suggestions are welcomed as this is puure boredom on my part

Final test video for upgrades
As promised a short video of completed upgrades. I think it improved the sound from clipping paper tweeter cones to silk ones. Defo can handle more power now at higher levels.
The biggest improvement was just packing the cabs which was empty, but hey they are 25 30 dollar speakers and paper cones have a neutrality sound which I like
