True, I think my K702 headphones have "reference" written on them in more than one place, and they really do need EQ to sound normal - but I think they're very good with EQ so they got saved, but yeah "reference" occurs everywhere!
My god, it's a bit crazy that they call them both "reference monitors" and "studio monitors" on their website when they've got frequency response like that. Ok, they don't cost much but you shouldn't really go bandying about terms like "reference monitors / studio monitors" for such an item!
Or use an Oratory EQ, have a look at following link which shows his EQ's for all headphones, so just go ahead and click on the HE400SE:

That's a pity. The good thing is that now you've quantified the channel imbalance you could crudely fix it by bringing the right channel down by 1dB. Yes, it doesn't fix the imbalance that might not be even through the whole frequency response, because maybe just some parts of the frequency...
I've seen your main thread on your system before, it's crazy how much stuff you have done to it, I guess it sounds very good! It's also quite amazing the detail you've gone to in outlining exactly how your system is laid out & how it interacts & everything you've learned from it. There's so...
Your different sub crossovers in the graph has some logic to it, so OK re the 100Hz as I've not experimented at all with localisation - but that's because I only have one sub located inbetween and behind the speakers in the corner of the room, so from my listening positions the sub is inbetween...
100Hz is a bit high though for a sub crossover point if you don't want localisation issues if the subs are at significantly different positions than the speakers. I'm not convinced that you get your multi sub with RoomEQ and setup without RoomEQ to the same frequency response. Although I might...
Yeah, well you know the capabilities of what you have with your DAC in your PC so I'll let you figure out possible solutions, I don't think I can help you with that & it would start to get off the topic of this thread.
I think there was a discussion in different thread somewhere here on ASR about HD550, it prompted me to look up HD550 on Oratory's reddit and to me it looked like HD550 might measure quite close to New Version HD560s except the New Version HD560s having better bass extension. Would be...
For your one room when you did once "measure the dogshit" out of it for your multi sub placements I'm guessing you also combined that with RoomEQ to get it flat at listening positions in the bass? If you did that then I'm thinking that would have been the best case situation during your...
It's an interesting idea using real 5.1 surround. I know what you mean, I remember those little tiny satellite speakers along with sub that used to be quite common in the noughties (2000's). I've never really used those little 5.1 surround systems in fps gaming, so I can't comment on how...
Maybe the peakiness and or dips in your in room bass frequency response is actually something you like when you talk about "impact of bass transients that make sound so alive and exciting". But I don't know how many peaks or dips you have in your in room bass frequency response, but you'd...
For me the best Virtual Surround system is Soundblaster SBX. Here's a link to a thread on the topic of Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound which contains some thoughts & experiences of mine & others...
