Hi Bob. Yes, Gone Girl is on the list to watch. We watched Spectre on our new LG OLED TV. It was fun but neither I, nor my wife are a fan of this bond. I know, everyone else thinks he is the best bond. But somehow we miss the classic bonds.
like timothy dalton and george lazenby... gone girl is a good viewing with the other half. i enjoyed it as did my GF.

going back to bond its easy to forget how crap some of the other films were and how crap and cheesy brosnan was. his only good film was goldeneye imo. Craig had a hard job on his hands as the franchise had nosed dived and you have to go a long way back for inspiration. you can't blame them for copying the bourne films in so many ways as true enough bond was dealing with a identity crises too.

I agree, he's a good actor and plays the part well but he just isn't "Bond, James Bond"
I'll see it soon anyway as soon as the bluray hits Redbox

"Bond, my name is James Bond" Bond know my name. Martini stirred but not shaken.
Double O7 @ the secret service of her Majesty. Licence to Kill. James Dean.

____________

Rocky Balboa, Sylvester "Sly" Stallone...the Stallion.
Creed - Rocky number se7en. Seven like 007 secret agent.
Good flick, good performance by 'Sly'.

The franchise is not as old as Bond (only 40 years and 7 films) but Sly is in all seven of them, about that!
And the guy's 69 ... no small chops, still packing a dynamite punch. ...A punch of wisdom.
Relaxing film, smooth easy going...nobody loses nobody wins everyone's happy. ...Good recipe.

That's another I can't wait for the bluray to hit Redbox. Sly brought an excellent character to life in the franchise. The only stinker in the bunch was Rocky V IMHO

Bought the bluray of the syfy classic Forbidden Planet and watched it tonight. Excellent transfer in both sound an video, impressive job. Robbie The Robot never goes old and Anne Francis had great legs back in the day.

Just finished watching Winter's Bone with my wife:

Bought the Blu-ray back in 2014 but never watched it 'till now!

It was fresh and raw acting. Had a bit of Fargo in it. Was worth a watch but it has such a cold feel to it sans the ending. I guess I could see the creativity in it but overall, I can't recommend it that high.

Just finished watching The Next Three Days:

Made back in 2010 but had not seen or heard of it (found it on free cable on demand). Fresh thriller with unexpected story and twists/turns.

Definitely enjoyable watch and recommended!

'The Next Three Days' was indeed a suspenseful/entertaining little flick.

______________-

Last night I revisited this older 1999 (17-years old) flick:

7057_large.jpg

This ain't your family type of movie viewing, and not your romance between you and your better half (sweet lover/friend/fiancee/girlfriend/wife/companion).
It's a "boys club" type of movie from the darker and "virulent" side of man (virility).
Sure, there is a woman involved, and that helps a lot to lift a veil of 100% masculinity.

David Fincher the guy who directed Se7en, The Game, Panic Room, Zodiac, Gone Girl, ...is a darker movie director. All his films are very dark and with themes of human darker side. His films are not for young kids and sweet girls, and women in general.

Me I like his style, I am not a little boy, I am not a women, and I am not violent...to the contrary I am extremely peaceful.
I appreciate his pasting and cinematography, his artistic film's structures and compositions; he's one of my favorite filmmakers.

Fight Club has some incredible moments, covering a large palette of mind impressionism.
And the replay value is "sound".

We just watched Bridge of Spies last night. I had to put on the generator to finish watching it, as someone apparently forgot to feed the hamster that spins the wheel that makes electrons oscillate.

I saw that a couple years back. I had the same idea. It was so cold, and harsh, and seemed to have nothing to say other than depicting awful people putting other people in a terrible situation without remorse or human kindness.

Spotlight and Bridge of Spies were a couple good movies I have seen recently.

If you haven't ever seen it, worth seeking out Mr. Nobody. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it an excellent and very different movie. It won many awards when it was released in 2010, but didn't fair well at the box office. Good enough to bear repeated watching.

Another movie I saw recently is a 2014 flick called Predestination with Ethan Hawke. Also not your run of the mill storyline.

eXistenZ has been around though still worth a watch. Jude Law, Jennifer Jason Leigh and a dozen other top actors. This is a David Croneberg flick.

And for inventive story telling you could try Memento.

You're on gas generator energy? How far from the nearest electrical post do you live?

With the few movie titles you just mentioned above, this little sci-fi flick was made the same year (1999) as Fight Club.
It's a small gem (IMO) that was misunderstood by the majority of film critics (I believe that their mind couldn't comprehend, and they got derailed in the process...happens sometimes). Anyway, you might find some' of interest in it.

I've experienced in real life total lack of human remorse and lack of kindness. So it is a harsh reality, as you too probably experienced it.
By the way, I'm not a particular fan of that actress...Jennifer Lawrence, here in Winter's Bone.
