Well I think M40X is more neutral sounding (lesser bass and treble) than M50X. And M60X is more neutral as well and a little lighter (little bit more comfortable). Hope this helps. Quick audition of the cans would help you decide :cool:

I would recommend that you audition ATH M60 or/and M40 before pulling a trigger on M50X. :D
