    Tekton M-Lore Speaker Measurement Update

It's a case study in precisely how not to respond to a less-than-favorable review of your product. Contrast with the Ascend Acoustics situation, whose owner and lead designer, when similarly frustrated after one of their speakers was objectively shown to possess a few issues, made a huge R&D...

2000-3000$ Budget for new studio monitors

If you're not using a sub, I agree that stretching (or waiting for a sale if needed) for the KH 150s would be the direction I'd go given the genres of music you're producing. You might also be able to find a vendor to bundle MA 1 at a discounted price, which would provide you with excellent room...

    Ascend Acoustics Sierra LX Review

Agreed, it's absolutely critical to level match within reason whenever A/B'ing speakers. That may not ultimately change your decision of course, but you're not hearing a true comparison otherwise. The sensitivity differential between these two speakers is not small. To look at it from another...

    Fallout on Amazon

I enjoyed the season. It's certainly one of the better game to TV adaptations and it did a nice job of portraying some of the quirky weirdness of the Fallout universe.

Lightbulb moments, or how far have you come in your journey?

Understanding the importance of addressing room modes via proper bass management, EQ, and positioning and then using speakers that perform well on-and-off-axis to handle everything above Schroeder essentially on their own. The results are clearly heard. Going from good, to great, to exceptional...

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

Not that it matters since those subs are no longer in play, but the compression sweeps were done with the crossover disabled, hence the 70Hz bump. The normal sub response was as shown in the first post.

    Tekton M-Lore Speaker Review

He should truly seek professional help. He'll never do it of his own accord, but someone close to him should intervene. This is all rather sad.

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

Agreed, I'm good. Perhaps at some future point I'll add a couple nearfield subs, more for additional tactile response / envelopment than anything, but that would likely be frivolous and then there are the additional challenges that this introduces to the integration process. I do use towers...

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

Below are compression sweeps that I ran when the Monolith 15s were in use. The mic was positioned at the MLP, which is about 11ft distant from the subs. This is a nice amount of headroom and perhaps enough for my needs. I still had to satisfy my curiosity, though. With the PSAs, I'm finding...

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

It's a dial on the plate amp that progressively applies cuts to the low bass to account for different room sizes / boundary gain. Leaving it at large provides the native response of the sub with no attenuation. I believe going all the way to small results in a 12dB cut.

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

Well, it's flat in the audible range. Better? :) And I did experiment with the room size control set to small, which flattens the LF response. I couldn't tease out any appreciable differences for music. Two more 21" subs for the nearfield? Yes! A bit tricky to sneak into the house, though.

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

You and my wife both. If you're referring to the sub-bass rise, that's primarily room gain. I can flatten it easily enough via the "room size" control on the back of the sub, which applies a progressive LF cut to attenuate room gain. I prefer it this way for movies and it doesn't have any real...

    Revel F206 Tower Speaker Review

If you aren't compensating for the increased listening distance by spacing out the speakers further, this isn't surprising.

    M106 distortion

I assume you are listening to the original Joe Walsh track. If so, yes, the guitar is heavily distorted by design, buy beyond that there is significant clipping in the right channel and this generates a crackling type of sound. It's inherent to the track, there's likely nothing wrong with the...

    How Much Subwoofer Is Enough?

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I ordered dual PSA TV2112Ms. Here is where they ended up after positioning and running through Audyssey: Why yes, we now have extension flat to below 9Hz in-room. Yikes! Unfortunately, I don't have any practical means to switch between the 15"...

    Revel F206 Tower Speaker Review

So this was pestering me somewhat as the F226Bes had, subjectively speaking, what I would describe as the "smoothest" midrange / lower treble I've ever heard in a speaker that I've owned. Another member already mentioned the increase in edge reflections / sound power with the F206 around the...

    Revel F206 Tower Speaker Review

I've owned the F226Bes and have listened to the F206s. While I don't expect them be to everyone's' tastes, the adjectives you've used don't remotely align with my impressions of them. It sounds like something may have been askew downstream of the speakers, and/or perhaps they were connected out...

    Tekton M-Lore Speaker Review

Well done by Erin. The results are entirely unsurprising. This is a fantastic opportunity for @Eric Alexander to reflect on this situation, bring it to a close, and remove any and all pressure from Amir and Erin. Doubling down now will bring nothing but harm to his business and future...

    Revel F206 Tower Speaker Review

I'm not sure that there's any singular subjective aspect of a loudspeaker system that varies as wildly as bass output. The same-size F226Bes were absolutely subwoofer-required speakers for me, and they were getting decent room gain. That's not to say that others wouldn't be content to let them...
