I always use USB thus the updated chip change does not technically effect. However it is possible they silently updated something else.

I am comparing v1.2 with D50s (not D50) thought the D50s sounds better irrespective of the bumped up RCA output of 2.85v, etc. Indeed specs on Lavaudio site differ from what is published on Amazon and appears as if the manufacturer has no idea of what is really being sold via third party vendors!

The D50s does sound much, much different when compared with the LS-600 v1.2..

Received DS-600 v1.2 upgraded today. At first glance looks like a well built silver brick or say a D50s clone, with an old fashioned toggle power switch & 3.5mm front HP jack. At first observation, the DAC sounds quite bright with high level of gain (+2.5v), boosted mid & high range, not too bad...

I have both versions of E30, and can confirm the CS8416 (serial 2102xx) version sounds more "flat"or "boring". Something is simply not right with this one.

Mine came in yesterday with series number 2102xxxx. looks exactly same as older one. However I experienced gain in DAC mode a bit lower (or might by my ears)... May be someone can confirm if they have altered something in order to accomodate the CS8416. Topping needs to rebrand it as E30 v2.
