I'm sorry, but what? People buying a budget, single input DAC are very likely to be first timers jumping into balanced connections. Hardly any of them have XLR cables just laying around.

The frustrating thing about the A20 series is that you have to choose between RCA and XLR for the headphone amp and speaker amp. There's no pass through on either of them, so the DAC can only feed balanced to one and single ended to the other.

Is it more bass or more distortion in the bass region leading to increased perception? (This is one of the reasons most people aren't worried about distortion in the low frequencies!)

My speakers play down into the low 40hz and the bass quality is solid with the A20a.

Any amp has enough power for any speaker, just not always at the volume+distance you want. Plug in the values into the amp calculator and see if the measured output from the review meets your needs.
