    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Have a look here for device spec details: https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/flex (specifications tab) Amirm has measurements for analog in and out on page 1. I wouldn't expect the unbalanced version to be significantly different.

Thanks. From reading that, both orientations are valid for stereo use with respective calibration file, but the vertical orientation should always be used for multichannel/surround setups.

    Room EQ

This is a bit strange. I use the UMIK1 myself and from a miniDSP support page it says otherwise: https://support.minidsp.com/support/solutions/articles/47000681633-which-direction-should-i-point-the-umik-1-

    Room EQ

I'm not an expert but isn't the UMIK-2 an omnidirectional mic, so designed to capture sound equally from all directions?

    Room EQ

That's odd, on the product page it says otherwise: Which calibration file should I use and where to point the UMIK-2? We provide two calibration files to be used depending on your application. - For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point...

@syn08 Assuming you have a stereo setup, aren't you meant to use the mic horizontaly and so use the 0deg calibration file? Have a read through this thread: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/rew-moving-microphone-method-help.12641/ you might get some usefull tips.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Nice option on there now to "CUSTOMIZE SELECTION" where you can just select the inputs you use. For me it's just USB for the PC and TOSLINK for the TV, so now when I use the remote to switch input, it only has the two choices to alternate.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

It's working fine for me. I just followed the instuction notes. Had a few reboots and resync from what I remember. Maybe try to completly remove the drivers/software and start again with just the new version.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Similary for me too, the balanced connections was probably the main reason for my upgrade from the DDRC-24. All my other equipment have balanced connections. You probably won't notice in your setup but for me the complete lack of hiss from the mains due to the Flex is much appreciated in my...

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

@prerich What was the advantage for you in the Flex against the 2x4? Seems like they would do the same job from what you have described.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

I've experienced the same when the audio output is set to Wasapi(Exclusive Mode) in Qobuz. Change it to normal Wasapi and it's fine. Works fine with either mode via Roon.

Nice subs but it might be worth considering the Monolith THX subs as they have XLR inputs. The added EQ on the SVS subs is available on the Flex.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

It should suit your setup very well. I have a similar 2.2 setup but with M16's connected to my amp. If you have TRS or XLR connections on your active speakers/subs then go for the balanced version (with TRS to XLR cables if you need to convert them). You'll also need the measurement microphone...

That bluetooth feature was removed in the latest firmware. From miniDSP: V1.16 Firmware v1.25 / 14th June 2022 - Remove BlueTooth Autoconnect feature - Fix bug of muted output on bootup for certain conditions on Flex Digital - Fix bug of incorrect output sample rate metadata bit on Flex...

    miniDSP Flex

It's most likely the preset you've selected when generating the PEQ in the REW EQ window. From the FLEX spec sheet: Processing resolution / Sample rate 32 bit/96 kHz (32bit/48 kHz with Dirac Live® license) As you have Dirac enabled, 48 kHz is the one you want. I think it's just the miniDSP...

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

If anyone in the UK is considering purchasing then this might help: I purchased the balanced version without Dirac for $550 plus the TRS to XLR cables $40. Shipping was $30 from DHL. I received the miniDSP Flex after 6 days and the cables 2 days after that. This cost in GBP was about £450 in...

    Revel M16 Speaker Review

Thanks for the tip (exactly my thinking). I gave RS a ring last week and picked up a pair for £420. Cheaper than my Elac's. I'll have to decide where they go now.
