Dr. Toole's 4th Edition Book is Coming! (Discount)

If it's anything like the jump from version 1 to 3,* Toole will have incorporated the intervening ten years of additional academic research since the prior edition was published. And he will have read many of the misreadings of the prior edition on the internet, and he will spend considerable...

    Revel M16 Speaker Review

No and the dispersion would be pretty poor horizontally positioned as well.

    Focal Aria 906 Speaker Review

There are new competitors that have emerged in the past five years, for example: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/ascilab-f6b-bookshelf-speaker-review.63387/ but if you need the output of the Chora, that would be a fine choice. Not quite as...

    CEA-2010 Subwoofer Testing Master Thread

This method of measuring was groundbreaking when developed 20 years ago, and helped level the playing field in the sense that there was now an objective way to rank subwoofers. But it is far from perfect, and you can see that even the CEA agrees. In CEA RP22 they explicitly invoke CEA2034 for...

Yes, it is labeled ProJect but I'm not sure how to further identify it.

Introducing the Phono Cartridge Measurement Library

Sorry for the tangent, but I'll be setting up one of these on a Music Hall MMF 5.1 with the stock tone arm, and am not conversant enough in understanding these measurements to know what, if any, setup modifications/approaches I should take, based on how this cartridge measures. (Happy to be...

DBA (Double Bass Array) - marketing?

Unless your head is in a vice and you have only one ear you need to take several measurements spaced at least a foot apart from the center of your head. Yes it is possible in some rooms with luck to get reasonable response for a single listener. Your measurement doesn't demonstrate that, as...

DBA (Double Bass Array) - marketing?

That is a single measurement (not just a single seat, but literally the sound of one ear). If you measure several times around the area of one seat, you will have the measurements more closely approximating one listener. Then repeat that for the other people and seats in the room.

Room Measurement Tutorial for Dummies Part 2

Totally normal in a room for the response of each speaker to measure a little differently. Speakers in a room will always vary a bit from one another. Enjoy the music and don't worry about the graph (which is pretty normal).

Room Measurement Tutorial for Dummies Part 2

That's actually quite good and normal. Remember, everything below 200 and often 300 hz is dominated by the room modes and not the speaker linearity. And even above that level, measuring a speaker in a room will introduce wiggles that aren't really there. If you want to get a better sense of...

    AsciLab F6Bs Speaker Review

It will be interesting to see. Just a gamble these days. In theory one should not split an order. Quick search "Border officers look for ‘split shipments’ (also known as smurfing) designed to bypass duties. If CBP deems your shipments intentionally split, they can consolidate their value and...

MekedeTech DUDU7 Android Head Unit Review

Am I the only one that wants to see the camper van? Anyway, I'm enjoying learning about these upgrades. I look forward to seeing and learning more.

    KEF R3 Speaker Review

Remember much of the subjective part was disappointed by a room mode that was later corrected (but the comments were not revised). These are excellent speakers.
