Stereophile doubles down on the snake oil!

I'm not a reviewer, but I have been given tens of thousands of dollars in audio cables that I sold and never bothered to give them a listen. The speaker cables were fatter than a garden hose and had 15 pound machined aluminum mystery boxes attached. Too much bother to wrangle those pythons.

Interview about Measurements with Pearl Sibelius Speaker Designer

Which works both ways... the objectivist who "knows" a speaker measures poorly, will immediately dislike the sound when presented with an actual audition due to his sighted bias. ;) I say we should always keep an open mind. Who knows, we may just be in the statistical minority who prefers this...

Why evaluating the sound of a single speaker is essential

I would also suggest we have more variation amongst ourselves when stereo is entered into the equation. We have different physical geometries of our heads and different response in our two ears. I know for a fact that my ears are not perfectly balanced and this affects my stereophonic perception.

Can other AIs interpret pictures of audio equipment?

I'm not sure what the point of this exercise is...? As for the particular image, it might be from the L1-Pro8: https://www.bose.com/p/portable-pa/l1-pro8-portable-line-array-system/L1PRO8-SPEAKERPAARRAY.html I thought the responses were reasonable and full of less BS than we typically see...

Horn Speakers - Is it me or.......

I love horns! Unfortunately I don't love listening to most of them.

    Show us your bicycles!

I love these steel bikes. I have a 531SL touring bike built in Paris in a small shop that is long gone... it has covered a lot of miles since she was built in 1984. One respray as well. I also have a 1998 Schwinn Paramount that was built by Match Cycles. Sadly both are hardly ridden these days...

The kit we bought, our current setups

Yes, temporary indeed. I'm thinking I'll need much larger panels on rigid stands that I can wheel into place and then roll them off to storage when WAF is in play.

The kit we bought, our current setups

Could you post a picture? I have a new listening room that is extremely live and while I am a huge proponent of room treatment, in this case, the mid-century aesthetic is taking precedence and permanently altering the look will not fly. I am considering bringing in movable absorption and...

    Show us your bicycles!

Watching these rail videos gives me stress... haven't these guys seen all of those movies where a train appears around the corner on an "abandoned" section of tacks?

    Veneer over existing speaker cabinet

Thanks, I designed them almost 20 years ago and while I'd certainly do things differently if I were to approach the project today, the speakers are still in service and bring me a lot of musical enjoyment. The UHF driver is the TAD ET-703, The HF driver and horn are the TAD TD-4003/TH-4003...

PS Audio PowerPlant 12 Review (AC Regenerator)

Yep All true... Magical thinking is particularly dangerous when considering one's healthcare... in audio enjoyment, it can be part of the fun.

75 years of JBL: 75 years of Loud + Clear!

I hear you. Many manufacturers do all manner of silly stuff for marketing purposes... bi-wiring terminals being one of many examples. That said, Be has very real advantages when used correctly. Here is one example in compression drivers. In JBL Tech Note 1 volume 8 they explain why a competitor...

“Controlling how the signal is distributed to each of the drivers in Summit Makalu is a MultiCap™ crossover network with single-wire and bi-amp/bi-wire connectivity. By replacing traditional large capacitors with an increased number of smaller capacitors, this design results in lower ESR...

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

One can argue that they do not offer the highest level of performance or value for their cost, but companies like Wilson and McIntosh do stand behind their products and offer superior customer service compared to many of the more affordable products from other large companies. For me...
