Ojas (Devon Turnbull) and Klipsch (Roy Delgado) Collaboration - Just Announced

My wife likes big speakers, as long as they have that brutalist look (and moves on wheels...very important). As alwyas aesthetics are personal, but there are rules to make things look pleasing.

That frequency response is really bad. Why would you want a boost in the 300Hz-1KHz range? Theses speakers will sound muddy and without bass.

Ojas (Devon Turnbull) and Klipsch (Roy Delgado) Collaboration - Just Announced

At one point, I really liked the aesthetics. He's a fashion designer, so he has some talents in blending everything together, furniture and audio, to create a cohesive look/siganture, with the hammertone or the pewter grey for instance. Now it has become more of a gimmick where the guy is...

Has DSP turned us into audio neurotics? [rant]

Full active DSP is not cheap, if you compare it with passive speaker (three ways) : - one dsp unit instead of nothing. - 6 amplification units instead of two. - no passive components versus passive crossover. - measurement device instead of nothing needed in passive. it gives you the ultimate...

Let's share diagrams (and photos) of our total physical audio system and the whole signal path, with a few words and/or links

The reste of the setup for home office, and Kitchen. Everything is sourced from LMS digital library running on a Pi5.

    Balanced amplifier recommendation for tweeters?

In my setup, I tried a tripath, and various TA3255. They all had an unreasonable amount of hiss when paired with my high sensibility compression driver & horn. So I bit the bullet and installed three hypex nc400 (one for bass with dedicated power supply, one for medium and one for the high with...

Need active speaker recommendation for surgical suite

Genelec 8030 should be enough as to sound level. Angle them downward high on the wall.

    Harbeth now with active version

I don't know "audiophile" but once you have active speakers with DSP, from a reputable brand like genelec, or these Harbeth, the only thing preventing you from enjoying your music is the shit recording that suddenly becomes so glaringly audible. Active DSP is the way to go.

    Harbeth now with active version

This is more or less my diy setup: 6 hypex amplifiers, a pair of three ways speakers with a minidsp flex 8 and Dirac. Even factoring the hours I spent, I am far from £50k. And my speakers are way bigger :)

Speaker time alignment, does it matter?

I experimented with my DIY three way (tri amped, DSP crossover (all LR24) ), the high is a horn with a compression driver. The horn length makes the compression driver sits quite far from the woofer and mid woofer "plane". I made a mistake and delayed the horn even further by 0.3ms and the sound...

What is the point of CD rips?

Ripped it once in mp3 in 2005, and I flaced my entire CD collection 2 years ago. It stays on two different disks. The hardest part is actually finding a computer with a decent cd player... I barely use streaming as I don't want to pay for it, I use the free version to listen to new stuff, and...

    Someone explain this bizarre 3-way

I thought at first it was some sort of crazy diy job where the builder covered a botched baffle on the side with corian. The metal rods will introduce some ringing, so the concrete pipe from side to side are a way to minimize that, and adding some rigidity, that would be my guess.

    Balanced interconnection and ground

I use these: https://www.neutrik.com/en/neutrik/products/xlr-connectors/xlr-chassis-connectors/a-series?c=audio and more precisely, this one: Female connector -1 = mating connector shell to pin1 and front panel This way, I never had ground loop issue: pin1 connects to the shell and the chassis...

How loud do you like your music?

I have moved my genelec 8030C on my desk, and they are now roughly one meter from my head. They are connected to a DAC, which is connected to my computer. I have to crank down to 6% volume on the computer, more than that and it is uncomfortable, I will measure tonight how much SPL it means, but...
