Your assumption was partially correct. Unbalanced XLR connections either tie the ground and negative lines together, or they leave the ground "floating". Some "fancy" implementations provide switches that enable a user to choose between those two options.
This also from Anthem's website:
What about the whole circuit from front to back - is it fully balanced?
No. At some point the signal must become single-ended, or interference can't be cancelled. This is better done sooner rather than later in the signal chain. The purpose of a balanced stage...
Yes, the AVM 70 and 90 outputs are balanced. This is from my AVM Manual:
XLR Balanced Outputs
XLR balanced connections offer the highest analog transmission quality, particularly over long cable runs, because they reject noise and hum. The AVM’s XLR outputs are internally wired in the...
Fake? According to Anthem's website:
All three pins of the XLR connection are part of the circuit, which means it's a real balanced connection. (If pin 3 is sent to ground or left open, as is sometimes the case, then an XLR jack is an adapter, not a balanced input.) The purpose of balanced...
Yep. Since I got back into recreational use of cannabis, I've stuck with edibles. Particularly partial to the flavor and effect of THC-infused dark chocolate. :)
EDIT: I developed hypertension several years ago (before resuming cannabis use) as a result of work stress, and have been taking...
@EJ3 Love the "Lucas Service Part!" Back when many British cars had Lucas electricals, most of those bore bumper stickers that read:
Why do the Brits Drink Warm Beer?
Because They Own Lucas Refrigerators
Ever have kids around your gear? They can't keep their grubby little paws off anything. A quick clockwise twist of the volume knob up to eleven, and you're crying in your Cheerios.
The T33 tweeters in my old KEF 104/2 speakers were weak and had a propensity to die quietly at quite reasonable listening levels. No audible distress. Perfectly sweet and clear one moment, and then suddenly completely silent forever. I replaced my T33's thee times with new ones, but I had had it...
I do have shooter's muffs that I prefer to wear when working in noisy situations, but this particular project had me working in tight quarters (under a vehicle on jack stands), and frequently turning my head, so I opted for my 3M earplugs ... which I STILL didn't use.:facepalm:
