Only two things to use when tools aren't available. Zip ties and duct tape.

Yep, my son bought me this t-shirt several years ago - I wear it to most of our hifi get togethers!

The environment on mars is very harsh... Hard rock and sand everywhere. Coupled with freezing temps that makes metal hard and brittle.

Guess I thought that at the slow speeds of the rover temp wouldn't be such a factor. Strength sacrificed for weight? (definitely not an engineer)

It's almost as if John is making evidence-free assumptions about build quality based on source of manufacture, and confusing personal aesthetic design preferences with build quality. Shocking! Based on his posts about Class D amps, who could've possibly seen that coming?

I became curious and looked up how cable ties came to be. They were invented in 1957 after a engineer toured the boeing factory and saw wiring looms being secured with waxed string. So cable ties are being used here exacty correctly.

Highly unlikely that viewing public is as indoctrinated as Americans.
Dunno about that. Some of the footage *is suspiciously familiar*

I reckon its awesome.

But soon enough, there will be people claiming it's all fimed in a studio with red dirt and remote control...

Remember Capricorn One (movie)
I think it's lifted footage from a vidya game, with a graphics refresh.

It's not as if there are recognizable landmarks, for verification.

One of mankind's three greatest inventions, the cable tie.

More generally, the great inventions can be placed in two categories, stuff that makes things stay put and stuff that makes things move.
Unstoppable force Vs immovable object.

There are also the makes stuff taste better, and makes you high categories, plus keeps you breathing to enjoy those.
