I'm curious about your top 3 headphones that you own or have listened to.
I am not a audiophile but i listen to music every day on my speakers, at night I use my headphones so my family can sleep. :)
Here is my personal top 3 list.
  1. Hifiman Arya Organic (780€ - With fabric pads: fast and deep bass, good soundstage en detail for it's price.)
  2. Fiio FT7 (750€ - For me sounds alot like the Organic only slightly sharper in the treble.)
  3. Sennheiser HD 660S2 ( 450€ - Easy natural sound where you can listen to all day long, maybe sounds not as lively as the FT7 and organic.)
So let me know in the comments your top 3 list.

For me its closed headphones because I actually get to listen to them.

1 dan clark ether c flow
2 kennerton magni
3 undecided denon d9200 vs fostex th-900 mk2

The HEDD D1 i need to try. I see alot of people using it.

I prefer headphones that have microdynamics, granularity of volumes, macro dynamics, lack of blackness, FAST bass and plankton. ESPECIALLY plankton!

if you can eq, then in terms of sound? no

but it might not last long.
I read about some of the headbands, ear pads not lasting more than 2 years esp in hot/humid areas. But other than that are there any other issues I should be aware of?

they just randomly die or have weird distortion/channel imbalance after a while.

Mine are not ranked as I find that hard to choose:

Astro A50 Gen 5 = Smooth frequency response with decent distortion performance makes it work wonderfully with EQ. It is also wireless, lightweight and with a great microphone.

Audeze Maxwell = My favourite sounding headphones ever without EQ. They are also wireless but are heavy and the microphone is not as good as the Astro.

Hifiman Arya Unveiled = Smooth frequency response that works well with EQ. Pretty comfortable despite not being lightweight. Very enjoyable sound after EQ.

We can see a lot of bad measuring headphones in the preferences. Interesting subjectivity on what we like as headphones.

1. Bose quietcomfort 35. Very good response. Very light to wear. Durable. Makes noise from plane travel disappear. Great at home during work. Only downside is the microphone, which makes my voice tinny.
2. Sennheiser hd650. Better fidelity, less comfortable to wear.

Never found any better in all categories, at any price. After a lot of searching, I found out that accurate sound is what makes a headphone good; usabilty is what makes a headphone great.
