Are those tow planes a run of the mill plane or are they designed and made for towing duty?

Those guys got to be losing money on gas at $35 bucks a tow, not to mention their time.

The bill for the "in progress" engine rebuild in the Pawnee (roughly 2000 hours) was said to be $61,000

It's a 401-C club, nobody makes any money here.

Takes about 24 gallons for a somewhat busy day. We have a pair of 100 gallon tanks on a trailer to get 100LL at the fuel depot across the airport.

Currently $5.15/gallon

How long for a tow plane round trip and next hookup?

Depends... There are training flights (takeoff and land) to 1200 feet, experienced people to 2000, and more typical for others to 3000.

My 2000 foot tow takes about 3 minutes, add maybe ten for the towplane to return and set up for the next guy. The engine hour clock is based on RPM.

The Pawnee was a crop duster, single seat, rugged. The crop dusting mechanicals are removed.

The Cessna was used for Banner Towing in a previous life. Otherwise it is a Cessna 175 Skylark

Neither is particularly modified for towing gliders.

Mount a "tow hook/release" and go for it.

Both have 6 cylinder engines.

Both are 1963 model year, I think.

Oh, traditionally tailored suits will often be designed with extra fabric to look good even when altered by about 2 sizes up and down. Just that I'd either need to bring it back and be measured up again our next holiday there, or find someone competent locally. Thinking of a subtlely checkered jacket, something like this but maybe with a dark red instead of baby blue:

That reminds me, I really need to stop going around in rags, and some of my clothes are way past the point of being "well-worn".

It's a small to mid sized satchel. Internal volume of 28cmx19.5cmx9cm. A telescoping umbrella fits and everything else I need is not terribly large. There's also a nifty removable divider/organiser.
Don't come to ASR for style feedback, that bag is stunning. Where from?

Here's two of mine, much more modest:

Not the fanciest paint, but a very useful and nice to use pigment in an unusual purplish blue hue. More violet than pthalos or Cobalt, more blue than quinacridone or whatever. Painting with music on is my favorite thing to do without the need for a consenting partner.

Recommended if you want a warm weather fragrance in a traditional style without the odd metallic aromachemicals made ubiquitous in the 90s. I am a big time fragrance afficionado, so finding a warm weather fragrance was a months long process.

Recently upgraded my 3D printer to a Bambu Labs P1S. It's a freaking miracle compared to most 3D printers I've used before. Much faster, much more reliable, way less screwing around. It's at the point that it works more reliably than your average inkjet printer (which AFAIK is designed to fail pretty frequently and force you to buy ink). I think you can actually say "it just works".

Definitely recommended if you're into 3D printing at home, or want to be and don't want to play around in the shallow end of the pool.

I flew a few hours in a Cessna 175 Skylark. Nicer than the 172 and 152. Of course that might mainly be because it had AC while the others didn't. Once you get up a few thousand feet not so bad, but when it is 95 degrees F on the runway kind of nice.

Would be remiss of me not to share the bag that inspired the start of this thread.

Going by the build quality I imagine the leather will finally look worn in and developed character by the time your great - great grandchildren go to school, very nice inheritance item ;)

Just bought last week. It's a bit much for myself, but if you don't spoil yourself, who will? I really liked the background and lighting, but when I got home I was a bit disappointed to realize they barely visible in the picture, but if you squint really hard, you can almost make out the cool pair of black CCM socks I bought on top of the fountain.

Most modern fragrance either smells sweet, like sweet foods, or has a 'blue' shower gel smell popular with young men.
+1 Absolutely agree.

PS I bought Encre Noir following your post and it is delightfully unusual. Huge veitivert but really special (and dirt cheap).

WD Red 10TB 5400rpm x2
Should suffice for a couple of years

Some new perfumes. In Amsterdam till the 15th if anyone would like to meet or has any pointers. Cheers

I'm pretty new to Aliexpress, and spent a few days researching for what seemed like a good product from a good vendor. Had not heard of Gigididi previously, but apparently they are a sub-brand of Sea-Gull watches. And provided that their description of this "1963 wrist watch" matches the actual product, I'm expecting to receive a 38 mm dia, stainless steel wristwatch with acrylic dome crystal, and some nice detailing.

Previous AE buys have included a UV flashlight, LOZ brick kits, metal 620-format photographic film spools, power supply bricks, and set of 3 small stainless steel kitchen strainers: Basically stuff which either originates in China, or is known to be manufactured there. And so far, the experience has been great.

A salt shooting gun for dispatching flies and spiders. No batteries needed, just load it up with a bit of salt, cock it and blast away.

Salt? Inside your house? Seems a bit silly.

Big spiders I just catch in my hand and throw outside, like giant huntsmans. If it's a potential biter, maybe a jar or container or drinking glass/hand. Small spiders I just suck up with the vacuum cleaner and extension tube going around the architraves, skirting boards. Then spray a small squirt* of insecticide into the running vac. Kills everything in the bag.

* I reckon a big squirt could easily turn the vac into a jet engine when the brushes/commutator ignited the propellant. LOL.

Silly, yes, but fun and satisfying. :)
