Your latest cool purchase

I believe it's coming soon.

PS - It will most likely be for sale here for a good price when I get it back, because in a few days I'll be swapping out my Monitor Audio Silver 50 7Gs (which may also be for sale) for a new pair of Ascend Sierra LXs. It likely doesn't have the juice to do the LXs justice. But I love it's looks and form factor so it may be hard to let go. We'll see so stay tuned if you are in the USA. :)
I'm on the other side of the Atlantic ocean, in Sweden ;)

Arriving on Monday:

A Kobo Clara colour e-reader arrived this morning from amazon as I’ve never used nor even held/seen an e-ink reader so thought I’d treat myself as I spend most of my life sat on my arse reading on my iPad/iphone/real books etc but………… it’s going back to Amazon tomorrow.

Doesn’t work with the “borrowbook” system my library service use as the Kobo only works with “overdrive/libby” apps for borrowed books, I could download a book to my iMac then connect and drag/drop into the Kobo but that’s an utter faff. the overall interaction and controls of the kobo were absolutely rubbish and the delay in their use/page change/turn was laughable.

The e-ink screen that everyone says is amazing?, personally i thought it was guff.

Its only saving grace was the weight (lack-off)

Guess I’ll stick to reading on my 11” iPad/iPhone, but an iPad mini for reading ?……….that'd be a better size/weight and you can pick up a mini for the same price as a Kobo Clara.

I dunno if a pocket size e-reader with a.i. assist could ever be cool, perhaps in a geeky bookish way perhaps

Bought myself a Viwoods A.I.Paper Reader for no other reason than I’ve been reading on my iPhone and iPad but I think it’s hurting my eyes so thought I’d try out an e-ink display - I’m just the wrong side of 50 and don’t yet need glasses so I don’t wish to damage/strain my vision reading lcd/oled

Rather apt reading choice

The thin plastic clip on case is not MagSafe so I stuck a MagSafe ring on the rear

This MagSafe finger loop is useful

The Viwoods case is £40 so I bought the Boox Palma case and with the attached MagSafe ring it works great- cd sleeve for size comparison- the Viwoods is the size of my iPhone 17

Nice audacious Rimowa copy. Fingers crossed they are as sturdy as the original. Have a great trip!

ps. These are the challenges, and maybe why high quality products may survive where others don’t. Also some have a working supply of spare parts.

Just back from my our trip last week. We overstuffed the bags with over 50lbs/23kg of stuff in each and had to sit on them to get them closed. The luggage survived 2 US domestic flights, cruise baggage handlers, ferry terminal baggage handlers, 3 local flights in French Polynesia, an international flight, 2 more US domestic flights, plus numerous bellhops and our walking about a mile with them on various transfers. They held up extremely well. Wheels roll super smoothly over most terrains and all locks are still perfect. The outside of the bags have a few dents and scratches but that's normal wear and tear for aluminum luggage. I could not be happier with the purchase.

Moderately fun frivolous retro desktop Bluetooth speaker with surprisingly good performance: Divoom Ditoo Pro...

Good to hear. Thanks for the feedback!

Maclock. Some folks have figured out how to turn them into functional vintage computers, but I've already got a real one, and I really wanted this as a clock. A real labor of love, the detailing is great
