Your latest cool purchase

Used but still with its box and in new condition. Yes, that's a real spring reverb. My understanding is that it can be considerably upgraded with a new driver, though that would cost as much as I paid for the amp.
I wouldn't mess around with it. Everything in the signal chain can be changed, modified, upgraded or something. That might be fun in itself but it might just cause gas and consume time and attention. It's a $100 amp and as such I think it's awesome as is.

Oh yeah? I never tried that or even knew it was a thing. Might try it with my wife's when she upgrades. For many years I ran Hackintosh for my main workstation. Never thought of flipping the stack.
There may be a few little issues to work past unique to Macs, but it can be done. I think there were 4 I ran into with mine. Usually some Linux forum will show you how to get it to work. It now works fine, manages power fine making it a real nice spare laptop to have. I use it when I travel and it is quite capable, but not an expensive item if something happens to it.

I dunno - read a lot of posts by happy customers who were happier when the driver got switched. A 25 watt amp seems a little much for the stock driver. However, I've got other expenditures to contemplate first, like getting some shelves for my overabundance of CDs and such.

Signed by Leo? That's freakin' awesome! :)

I love the ASAT! Mine is a 2021 model. The original owner had a pearloid pickgaurd custom made and while I love them, I already have a Sire S7 FM with one, so I swapped it out for the original tortoise shell one that came with the guitar and I like it! I really wanted one in Seafoam Green but they are on back order, and I got a great deal on this one so I saved $250. :)

A 1966(!) cask strength Scotch from Tamdhu in Speyside. With import duties and shipping as they are, plus limited local availability for bottle sales, I gravitate towards getting fewer but better whiskies.

Have you sipped some yet? What is it like?

Tort on black is a beautiful combination. There’s a picture of Klaus Voorman with a black’n’tort Jazz in the cover of the Jerry Lee Lewis London Sessions album. That tort is the old stuff.

My copy of "Krugozor" (see post #309 for more info) arrived from Kharkov today, and I wasted no time in giving it a spin. Love the cover art, and the amount of playable content contained on 6 double-sided flexi discs. But being a product of the USSR, there's the obligatory (cough) socially relevant content, starting with a speech praising Soviet socialism, and an interview about de-mining operations. It's only midway through the 12 sides that the music for entertainment's sake really begins.

The flexi discs seem thinner than the ones I recall from Time-Life or Mad Magazine, but apart from a couple of locked grooves, they worked.

So that may actually be John Gustafson on bass. He was a Liverpool bassist, Cass and the Casanova’s, The Big Three, and friend of the Beatles, eventually winding up on Jerry Lee’s London Session (although Jerry was drunk and missed the gig, so High School Confidential ended up an instrumental with Albert Lee playing the melody on guitar!).
Gustafson sang Simon the Zealot on the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar.
On the other hand if it is Klaus, all I can say is that all skinny, seventies rockers look the same.

A friend is helping me to collect it from the UK so I save on shipping. Personally I buy about 3-4 exceptional bottles a year that are too prohibitive in cost or too rare to find in a bar and sip on them.

I think I also have a small problem with enjoying the thrill of winning whisky auctions too much...

Already up and running with rooADI - waiting for the MS Surface Dial to arrive!

DS18B20 digital temperature sensor. I need temperature compensation and was dreading calibration and interfacing, but for a few dollars, this outputs a digital signal, and is accurate and precise. And easy to get working on an Arduino.

I found a pair of VMPS RM30s that are original with no mods from the factory, (kind of rare) and the newer cabinets. They look good and are fully functional,
in piano black with waveguides.

I also found a pair of VMPS 626R in good shape completely original with TRT teflons, and Belden wire. I wish they would have been bi-wired but you can't have
everything.

I also paid under 1850.00 usd for both pairs. I've been looking for the 626Rs for well over 2 years. The RM30s fell into my lap. They will be delivered on 03-22-2025. I'm stoked!

They are my favorite manufactured speakers. It's too bad the company went out of business when the owner passed away in 2012.

Regards.

I wanted a monitor light for my iMac with a backlight function and remote control, I very nearly bought the expensive BenQ Halo @ £135 but I found the Quntis RGB monitor light for £50 so thought I’d try it out.

Quntis RGB monitor light bar arrived yesterday and I’m quite pleased impressed with what you get for £50, a few upgrades would make it the “obvious” choice though.

The ability to increase/decrease the illumination of the rear light

Motion sensor on the front of the bar, perhaps an auto function for adaptive lighting

Li-ion rechargeable battery in the remote rather than 3 AA’s

There is slight light bleed onto iMac screen when light bar is placed at the angle which avoids my line of sight seeing the leds in the light bar when seated at desk/or recliner, either improve the led angle/cut-off angle or include a teeny visor for length of light bar - I’ll prob use a very thin slice of black tape for now until I consider something better.

Improve the remote, sometimes a touch works, sometimes not.

Be nice if it worked with the rest of my Apple HomeKit stuff/lights but not essential

Sounds like I’m moaning/not impressed with it but not at all.

It’s a bit of a bargain at £50 and I feel no need to pay extra ££ for the BenQ Halo
