you have been in a coma for 2 years, which movie should you watch?

Two year coma? I recommend The Queen's Gambit (2022), if you haven't seen it and enjoy limited series - otherwise, "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" (1943). I've lost count how many times I've watched it. (It's one of Martin Scorsese's favorite films.)

One that I enjoyed recently was "Mob Land". Kind of a modern noir.
Probably my favourite Western "Bone Tomahawk" is worth a watch.
John Travolta and Kurt Russell still excellent in their later years.
Both pretty grim but highly recommended.

Another grim heist flic : "Dragged Across Concrete".

"Dune 3:Asian Nurses vs Sharknado on Arakis"

Yowsa.

Kubrik is one of the giants, Barry Lyndom is a masterpiece frame by frame

I heartily agree with your assessment of Kubrik, director of a number of my favorite films. Oddly, "The Shining" is not one of them. I feel like its his weakest film, one that might not have ended up on anyone's list had it not been for Jack Nicholson's brilliantly over the top scenery chewing. The film felt like Kubrick had hijacked the novel's plot and setting but pretty much ignored the central premise, the result being an ill begotten child of "The Lost Weekend" and "Psycho" rather than a true gothic tale, true to the original work.

Most hollywood movies used to get released here 2/3 years after their release in usa. I watched Coma on video rental in late 80s.

Lots of good movies from that era. But that would be offtopic.

I favor it is suspense. but good suspense. not the kind of suspense where the only suspense is some unanswered questions
Just finished Ripley on Netflix; 8 episode suspense/thriller with a new plot twist in each. Beautiful B&W scenes of Italy.

Also liked Upgrade; SciFi action and humor and AI is portrayed as helpful for the first time.

Did you red the Stephen King’s novel? Is one of my favorites, Misery also.
I agree with respect to the plot, but I like how Kubrik captured the ambience.

Not among Kubrik’s bests though, I prefer Orange Clockwork or the mentioned Barry Lyndom. Dr Strangelove is hilarious and terrifying at same time, one of my all times best

Thanks for the Ripley’s comment, I forgot was a new version of the book. Good for a rainy afternoon here in Galice!

+1 for Ripley.

Awesome cinematography too

These are not movies, but short series on Netflix. If you like good heist movies, and don't mind Spanish with subtitle, the original Money Heist on Nextflix is great. For a good sci-fi, try Three Body Problem.
Is funny to me seeing a Spanish series mentioned out of my country!

“La casa de Papel” (Money Heist) was a great success among thieve’s series, I highly recommend first two seasons. I’m watching now 3 body problem, and speaking about series I am very fun of Fallout
