I like an ABX test a lot more than his previous test of "count the switches." Even if a sizable proportion of people could tell differences between two DACs, it's very unlikely that they would be able to tell at every possible moment. When I ABX test lossy audio codecs, when I bump the bitrate down far enough that I can actually tell the difference, I can only tell the difference in very specific parts of the track. Just "keeping an ear out" for changes would be a hopeless task.
That said I don't need to do this ABX test to know that I would perform very poorly on it. I couldn't even differentiate the 2% distortion on that SET amp test from a few years back!
