There is very little official info to be found on the web about Conexant CX31993 dac chip. Can anybody provide official datasheet? Company seems out of business for quite some time, are there still "old" stocks of those chips available or do China manufacture them via licence?

[OT: some serious info I've found only about CX20985 and the CX20899 & CX20888]

SINAD of 100dB but DR of 90dB? How does that compute? DR is pretty much the same measurement as SINAD, just 60dB lower and then 60dB added to the result. How did this come out to be 10dB worse?

It clearly says Welcome deal. Thats to attract new customers who never made a purchase/don't have an account. It's not the regular price. You can always get something like a $7,5 coupon or equivalent discount as a 1st time customer on Ali, for pretty much any product.

It could also have some strings attached, like 'you can get this for 2,50 as an add-on if you spend at least $10', but I can't tell from this image.

Still varies by location; everyone can check it out by using a private tab/window where they're not logged in (but you'll likely have problems changing the location and currency; they'll default you to roughly where you are based on your IP).

"Welcome deals" are sponsored by AliExpress, they pay the price difference, and you as a new buyer are limited to ONE item, with a quantity of 1, and that's so you don't abuse their system (too much) by opening numerous fake accounts.

I see it as 9,25€ with the regular price 9,72€, so not much of a discount. Other items may be at 50% or even 75%.

Recently I ordered two replacement garage door remotes, "welcome deal" had them at like 2€ + cheap shipping. After logging in, the price was 5,5€ per piece, free shipping if I got two or more. Messing around with two accounts and two orders wouldn't have given me much.

This reminds me - I still have to copy the original remote codes to the new ones, LOL.

Think I just purchased the last of the 3.5mm USB C models for $2.49, I am in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area of New York, and never ordered from that store on Ali before. Must be why I got it cheap?? :D

Conexant has no longer existed since 2017. It has been bought by Synaptics. Therefore, now the audio SoC developed by Conexant will under the brand of Synaptics. I could not find any documents about CX31993, but I found a chip similar to it with the name CX31988/CX31998. They seem to have the same silicon die and almost similar specifications with CX31993. You can take that as a reference.

Voted “great” for what I believe is its intended use case—high efficiency IEMs.

As far as differing prices, AliExpress is probably adding in VAT for the EU and other regions and countries that employ such a scheme. There is no VAT in the U.S. where Amir is located.

VAT and exchange rates will make the price different.
VAT is on the order of 20%, depending on which country it is going to. Exchange rate is not relevant because all prices on Ali are in US$. They may be listed in € depending on your settings, but that is simply a computed value based on the interbank exchange rate. When you check out, you end up paying in US$.

Or maybe it checks your background to see if you have been good to everyone and if so, gives you a larger discount!!!
So Santa Ali is making a list, checking it twice, and is gonna find out who's naughty or nice?

This isn't correct, when I set the currency to EUR I get charged in EUR.
