Apparently the folks at SMSL are busy and there is now a new DAC/Amp, the AL400 with sub out, simple EQ, a nice DAC section.

With respect to the AS400 it seems to have a different volume control chip and adds support for phono MC (both support MM cartridges). The power amplifier section is also different: TPA3255 instead of the MA5332MS Infineon chip. So it should be an upgrade wrt to the AS400 on most counts — except that headphone out is missing.

Let's continue here specifically for this amp. SMSL just posted on FB
If the frequency response is correct then this might be a terrific amp. And look at the settings. Brightness is very adjustable to user preference

Looks interesting. Though if I’m understanding correctly, it looks like there’s only 3 bands for PEQ? If so that seems a bit limited.

Also, it has LPF for sub which is great, but no mention of HPF to mains.

Yes, 3 bands but you can to a certain extent choose at which frequency and also set the Q-value on your own. This is quite a bit more advanced that we usually see
Usually it's 100hz and 10khz

For example. You can set the bass EQ at 60, 80, 100 or 120hz. Plus-minus 10dB and the Q-value

arrived yesterday. i havent had the time to explore some of the features. but so far so Good. ui is very nice.
ignore the unfolded clothes in the background

Impressive features for the price! I think Schiit is also using three-band EQ in their Forkbeard control system - not sure if you can adjust Q values though. I like the look of the display in this one too.

It's an LCD so the contrast is not exactly superb. But I love that it can be set to 5 seconds and then turn off completely

if i open this up and take some pictures would someone in here recognize if they implemented ppfb? smsl answers are vague when asked about it.
