Strange question but it could make my life easier.
It seems that my partner likes speakers with yellow cones. :) I had some DIY Joseph Audio RM7i clones which she likes visually. I've just bought a KRK S10.4 sub for my home office, which she likes aesthetically. I've shown her some KRK V6S4's and got the same response.
I want to upgrade the speakers in the living room to floorstanding speakers. Personally I was looking at KEF Q7 METAs. But they don't have yellow cones...:p
Any good suggestions for similar speakers (size, performance, price (Max €1750/pair))... with yellow cones?

Maybe if you use Kevlar or aramid as a keyword in your search you can filter the ones with yellow cones

I get it, I really do. Much better to have a conversation about aesthetics and alternatives to yellow cones though.
You may get lucky and find something you both want but you don't want to be stuck with a pretty lemon ... fast route to resentment

Many older B&W designs had those yellow textile woofers (Kevlar?). Might need to look for used ones, as most current offerings seem to have a different color scheme. You can search for B&W 506, 800 / Nautilus series or CM 7 / CM 9.

Will do that. :)

She's not completely opposed to other speakers. But it seems she really likes yellow cones more than any other color. So if there are any that are really good and I also like them we can both be very happy.
I did suggest the Q7 Metas and she was not against them. Also suggested the Morel Avyra 633. Also not completely opposed to those, but they have to go on sale for me to make them fit the budget.
But yellow cones are prefered.:D

not a floorstander.....

The Hsu Research CCB-8 loudspeaker was originally offered with a yellow cone. Used samples may be available.

Nah, really want new ones. I've got old ones with yellow cones already. ...and not a fan of B&W.

I am afraid it's kelvar in natural colour cones then for you or you could grill her out (with that you will have much more aesthetical options which will probably only make things more difficult for you but at least you won't care about which colour they are but how they perform). Not a big fan of Metas myself.
See how would with a dressing (one they came or wall wallpaper you can pick together and pay someone to cut and apply) go Wharfedale Linton's anniversary or Super ones and pair of sealed back sub's (with sub stand's, packs and decoupling in between) put on each other (without stock Linton stand's). Please don't use flower decorations a top for watering reason's.

Did you consider spray paint? A few milligram will not hurt any cone...
I'd rather keep searching for non yellow cones that she likes, to be honest.

I was even considering KRK subs, small stands on top and then some 2-way KRK monitors. But for mid/far field (3 - 3.5m) listening that would not be optimal.

I am serious about wrapping and for me covers are more than fine.
How big (especially deep) is the room?

We have about 1m behind the listening position. Speakers are 0.5m from the wall.

Length of the room total and width. For behind that's fine, depending on REW simulation you might want to move them more to the wall and side walls are also 0.5 M preferred as minimum. The 2x 4" won't cut it (even for mid bass dynamics), one 8" reinforced with sub's will (on active/passive ones).

Hey, why not? :)

Shipping from AUS is going to be pricey... fantastic speakers though;
Some of the Focal's have yellow;

1 would be in a corner.

...but I showed her this and she actually likes them:

Problem is... I don't think they will perform very well in the location I have to put them in. Like I said, one will be put in a corner. The Kef Q7 Meta would perform much better there I guess (less boomy bass).

Aesthetically these Focals could pass the test. But with that kick in the 100Hz region they would be horrible in a corner I think. Applying some EQ could help.
I think she would like those Orpheus speakers a lot. ...shipping will indeed be a problem.

Also another French loudspeaker manufacturers, namely Davis Acoustics, uses yellow Kevlar cones and even gives the choice between yellow or black membranes:

Is that the regular one or the Super? The Super is designed to be put near the back wall, just like the Q7 Meta.

A large manufacturer doing these yellow cones for decades, went out of bussines recently. They did OEM for many speaker brands. So maybe yellow will be harder to get in the future.
