Hi,

I would like to add a subwoofer to my system that I use 70% for music and 30% for moovies. I see good reviews of the SVS SB1000 but where I live (Hong Kong) the prices are insane (double the US price): around USD1,200. I understand SVS in the US is great value but is it still if you pay double? So I tried to look for alternatives. I found the yamaha ns-sw1000 that usually retail for USD2,500 is available here on sale for USD850. I really can't find much review on this sub as it seem not to be great value at its original price. But I'm wondering if I would make a good deal buying it at 900 over the overpriced SVS. Furthermore, they dont even seem to be on the same category the Yamaha is their flagship and much more powerfull. Would appreciate your help especially if you have first hand experience with both subs. Thanks in advance.

About my system: I'm slowly upgrading from my accoustimas 5.1 that was pre-installed in my place (but that I dont like). At this moment i have: Denon AVR 5.1, front speakers: Wharfedale super denton, central channel: wharfedale Diamond 9.CS, rear: sony sscs5 at the moment I use my bose accousimas as sub (but it is no real sub).
