The buffoons of the marketing department were allowed to let off steam.

The review linked by @thewas_ shows good multiton distortion with slightly increased distortion in the range 1-2kHz (many 6-7'' woofer do too at this sound pressure level) and in the frequency range 100-300Hz (this could be a little better). The distortion limits in the diagram were added by me.

The multitone distortion values do not quite match the price level of the loudspeaker.

For about the same price you can buy the D&D 8C which is universally praised(Also on Gearsluzt) or the Genelec 8351B.
Obviously if you like the sound of the Yamaha's then get them.

Review Yamaha NS-3000 – King of Speed

ALPHA AUDIO
Sample Test - Yamaha NS-3000 on Pass Labs with Bryston and Yamaha A-S2200

Alpha Audio - cloud - Yamaha NS-3000 - JRiver.png

BTW, Pass Labs XP-12 with Bryston 4B SST3 sounds much better than the Yamaha A-S2200. If you do not hear the difference playing the cloud audios on your system then you have a problem with it.

Very good loudspeakers!

I prefer the Yamaha A-S2200 as the midrange sounds fuller.

Could be the recording is just thin in the midrange though. Obviously a recording of a recording in a room using a microphone isn't going to be near what the real thing sounds like. And I'm just using my Adam Audio AX7s.

I have them (imported from Japan - don't do it), paired with Yamaha S2200.. Sound fantastic to me.
I have a pair of Bowers & wilkins 705 s3 too. Yamaha sounds a lot better. A lot better/bigger soundstage...very crisp...

@mahdi_mak2000

I am debating between the following 3 setups for a 12 x 11 x 9 room:

  • KEF LS50 Meta + KEF FC62 sub
  • KEF Reference 1 Meta
  • Yamaha NS3000
- I have owned the KEF LS50 + KC62 sub recently but sold the KC62 sub due to 3 repair issues with the KC62 (considering giving the KC62 sub another chance due to lowest cost)
- I have not heard the Reference 1 Meta but have heard the Reference 1 (I might consider a used Reference 1 non-Meta)
- I have heard the NS5000 before and I will be travelling to Toronto, Canada in July where I could buy the NS3000

How do you like the bass performance of the NS3000? What size is your room?
