Yamaha AS701 / Wiim Ultra Streamer

What does the N132 sub pre-out provide particularly?
That’s a good question.

40-200 Hz adjusted .High pass or low pass option. It’s not as advanced like the Wiim sub output menu .

May I ask ; Does the ultra streamer digitalise the sound from the RCA outputs hence better sound then N132-RCA outputs?

Kinda overpriced for the feature set IMHO. It's good, just not a particularly great value.
Today with Wiim offerings yes .

Still it’s a good amp .

I am hoping the Wiim team would realise 400 watt in few years .

Class D topology is the future .

At least it has high pass/low pass options, perhaps I was thinking of previous versions or lower models where there is no bass management option.

Generally to apply eq/bass management you'll have a A/D/A setup....which isn't particularly meaningful (as not particularly audible in most cases).

All I see for the Yamaha 701 is that it has attenuation for the sub pre-out above 90hz. You have something different?

Yes Wiim uses ADC on the RCA analog inputs. And then DAC on RCA analog outputs.

Every streamer on the planet must do the latter for its digital inputs, and I bet the former is true for 99% of them.

In Wiim's case this does not audibly help nor hurt SQ.

The Wiim Ultra DSP options including for DRC and crossovers are great, especially for the price.

If you want a 400Wrms Class D amp there's no reason to wait for Wiim to make one.

After asking “A.I” .

One of setups can 2 Fosi 3 mono blocks or Fosi power amp with the ultra streamer .

Vibelink of course !

Depending if you RCA (like I do ) there can be hum depending on which Fosi power block to use.

5 volt is better .

My dealer sells 2 mono with the 10 volt option.

Not so keen on Vibelink , should the 3 pin power cable be unstable connection to the Vibelink.

As mentioned my old Ultra amp acts like that.

Or am I supposed to use massive force while connecting the power cable to the Wiim ultra ?

I never heard of any such problem with any Wiim product.

Have you tried with a generic C13 cable from a third party?

"Massive force" should certainly not be needed but then those are usually very robust

First, asking AI for audio stuff is just amplifying all the bs in general on the internet.

I’ve concluded that I’d rather maybe like this way .

2 Fosi 2 mono blocks with one 10 volt power supply ( 2 pairs of 5 volt means more space .)

Ultra streamer-SB1000 PRO.

Toy with sub settings , but it is best to let Wiim do the work.

Low or high level with AS701 “could work

However …

No high pass-thus more work for the speakers…

Wiim set to 100 Hz-150 Hz (more head room).

LS50 owners do this.

Last and probably the best option, since during the moment I own the N132 and AS701.

BluOs high pass sub option . Sub own DSP settings can “work “ in the same fashion like the Ultra streamer.

Dirac live.

Hardware and software I need to acquire .

REW; to learn about waterfalls etc …

Ultra streamer and see if I like the 24 EQ bands and Room Fit etc….

The Ultra Amp did help quite bit messing with the DSP.

Would be no volume issues by contrast using the Ultra as normal streamer controller-AS701.

I’ve ’read I can loose bit perfect by adjusting the unit to fixed volume .

This is my plan .

I do the same with the N132.

I’ll not use any subs in the near future, just EQ, P.Q.E and Room fit. By having the volume to fives settings .

Measure the room with the Umik-1 etc …

Any benefits with bit Bit Perfect?

Do you mean 5 vs 10 amps?

> Wiim set to 100 Hz-150 Hz (more head room). LS50 owners do this.

Only because LS50 needs it, and with co-located Stereo subs, which Wiim Ultra cannot manage crossovers.

If you are happy with your main speakers performance down to 80Hz and only use one sub, that (or lower) should be your crossover

5 volt and 10 volt yes.

Ny plan is maybe to add 2 Fosi mono blocks connected to the ultra. My dealer only sells 2 mono blocks with 10 volt power adapter.

Connects each with 1 RCA or XLR, then the rest. Better sub volume control.

I’ll give the sub try with AS701. Amp-fixed volume. Wiim-variable.

At least I can use it like any normal streamer like I do at moment with the N132.

Wiim DAC filters is blessing. Plus you tinker with Room Fit etc.

Wiim parametric EQ is genius .

Can roll of the treble and some mid bass warmth and adjust the bass.

You said YES to my question

but still talking volts? So confused...
Sorry.

I mean this : 48V 5A 10A power adapter

It seems some claim different power adapters sounds better.

Considering either true Fosi power amp or the 2 mono blocks with Ultra streamer.

LOL

No the only difference between the 5A and 10A is more power is available if your passive speakers require that at high SPL.

3e A7 is also worth looking at slightly better specs, a bit higher peak power.

And 2 mono vs 1 stereo unlikely to make any audible difference.
