Yamaha AS701 / Wiim Ultra Streamer

You have to define what makes it better for you.

I find the Vibelink has the best optical match. But also use a 3e audio A7 and a Purifi 1ET6525 with it.

It's more like the speakers and room define the amp for me. But on a desk I want it small and good looking.

I did own the ultra amp .

But during the time it was impossible to connect the power cable to rear side of the unit (where the speaker terminals are located).

Anyone else had any issues ?

I did enjoy tweaking by adding my own sound profile using the ultra amp . More difference than a speake cable . .

Fosi doesn’t have its internal power supply too .

You’d need more space then .

I can add DL licence ; but it cost lot !

I am wondering if the high pass option is available without installing the DL .

Anyone know . Because then I can add the sub connection to the N 132.

Would something like Fosiaudio (2 mono blocks ) or proper power amp be better option with the Ultra streamer .

One time volume adjustment with RoomFit.

Also applies to all poweramps with volume and no bypass.

Next it needs to be applied to wife, kids, visitors...

Yes a pure poweramp has benefits.

I dunno why you are asking this if you own it? Or why you bought the Wiim if you have N132?

In any case yes, but only affects Analog outputs, look under the Subwoofer setting.

I learned this in under a minute by googling and reading...

Simply because I’ve get confused writings from BluOs support whether you’d need DL licence to use the high pass option; and if you run sub using the non DL option.

Being the SB1000 PRO has DSP.

As mentioned the N132 is currently connected to the AS701 ( cracking amp !)

Using well shielded Van Dammme coax /RCA cables . Speaker cables is 3103/ Mogami . No snake oil . lol !

Main reason is why didn’t one engineer from Yamaha consider high passing option.
Instead of fixed 90 or 100 Hz .

I’ve decided to go for the Sb1000 PRO. Because I can at least the use /connect it using the speaker terminals.

Wiim offerings offer better value since you can high pass the mains . Maybe not so important with the Yamaha …

Read many are happy with the low pass filter …

I mean should go for the Wiim streamer-run sub to it . I’d assume I would set the AS701 to fixed volume to E.Q 11 o’clock . Let the Wiim control the volume after this . I mean should I connect sub I would need to do this.

Of course with the Vibelink and the Ultra streamer this is non issue with a sub . I can of course buy the Ultra Amp again …

Even if the power cord was flaky. Could have been shipping etc . My English is not my native language.

What is best option to connect sub to the AS701, being it has a fixed low pass filter shy of 100 Hz ?

My dream sub is the SB1000 PRO.

I can probably use the N132.
Gather it is more convenient than using the AS701 because it has a high pass filter .

Ultra amp /streamer has both high pass filters . Should the N132 /can work with the SB1000 PRO (high pass). I can maybe save some money.

Should I not need to invest DL licence.

According to others : I need to set the AS701 to fixed volume -adjust the Wiim volume dial for the best sub adjustments .

The AS701 is to just be used as a power amp from the Wiim Ultra, you do the crossover with the latter, sub fed from there.

Or use the N132, same deal.

What does the N132 sub pre-out provide particularly? Rels are not "proper subs" particularly, mostly overpriced for their performance.
