Hi!
Does anyone know if I could potentially damage headphones or amplifier if a use a Y splitter with a headphone like Audeze LCD-GX, using the Y-splitter to make the headphones connected to my Massdrops THX AAA 789 amplifier and the mic connected to my PCs (stationary) motherboard-microphone port?
When I first connected the two, the amp behaved very weirdly, it distorted and kind of shut down, but just at the very beginning, now it seems to work fine. I'm just worried I might damage something?

The Massdrop THX has built in protection circuitry which could shut it off like that. Maybe one of the connectors wasn't seated properly and caused a short?

Should work problem free. As @maverickronin already mentioned, maybe the plug wasn't fully in.

Thanks for the reply guys!

So I could assume the 3.5mm jack from the Y-splitter wasn't properly plugged into the amp and that is what caused the amp to behave weird? (this seems very likely, I may have fumbled when i plugged it in) The light on the amp turned red, instead of the usual white light, and that has never happened before.

So there is no possible danger using a Y-splitter for splitting the audio to my amplifier and mic to my stationary PC? (The Y-splitter is connected to an https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QKKM...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== extender so that i can transfer/reach the microphone-part to the back of my PC motherboard.) I was afraid I somehow damaged either the amplifier or my headphones, but I assume I didn't/couldn't? :)

The headphones cannot be damaged by this, the amp is protected.
Extension cable should work fine.
