Good day to everyone on this forum. I’ve been trying for a while to find photos of the internals of this XDUOO XD05 Pro PDAC, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find any, so I had to take it apart myself and take some photos. So I’d be happy if anyone looking for photos of the circuit board for their own analysis could use my material.
Well, the photos are below, and I don’t really have much to say other than that, in my opinion, the DAC is designed quite well, and honestly, I don’t know what else to say. They just did a good job with the product. What’s really interesting is how the DAC detects which chip is inside it (the removable card); essentially, they could have implemented this using a small I2C memory or via pull-up resistors for different chips. After all, the device doesn’t display the exact model of what’s inside it, just the name AKM/ESS/R2R, etc, so most likely in the future (even though the PDAC has been on the market for a long time already) there will be many more options for different models (personally, I hope that someone will be able to reverse-engineer the board so that people can make their own boards and thereby expand the selection), theoreticaaaaly i do not see any serious limitations preventing this...
I can’t really measure the DAC myself since I only have Cosmos ADC, and measurements taken with it will vary significantly depending on how you measure... (and it’s the same story with other analyzers, too...).
Well, that’s all for now, and I hope this material will be helpful to someone.
Have a nice day)
