Well apart from the novelty design, this is not great... I assume the owner got it for his/her kids and sent it in for a bit of fun. :D

I hope it brought a smile @amirm whilst testing it.

This is the back;

Well, at least there's an anthropomorphic design improvement with clear orifice markings. Think of all the mistakes that could be avoided.

Lol ... my plan, before reading the review, was to be kind because 'DACs are a solved issue' and it's fun

Then I saw the measurements ... stupid, expensive (for a toy) waste of time :)

Great design:D, but unfortunately they just "had"to screw up measurements with that tube in it:facepalm:
I suspect the tube kicked off the rest of the design. Looks the part and novel for anyone born in the last decade or two.

Headphone socket should be placed between his legs....;):p

Ps. Yes im 14 lol

Both. I don't listen to ton of it as it can be repetitious but do enjoy some. For testing, I use them as test of upper bass performance.
I like the way techno gives my ears a massage when using headphones.

Can I vote "LOL" ?
No other comment both for design and measurements.

A great one for blind testing studies then,be great to see how many golden ears can tell the difference? Reckoning less than most think when not over driven!

I look forward to the next iteration of the xDuoo DM-01 - with a tube bypass 'slide switch' on the back with the markings Good (Bypass) and Evil (Tube)

Another option for xDuoo is to offer a 'solid-state tube' variant similar to the 'LISST' at Schiit Audio

BTW, the listing for the xDuoo DM-01 at Amazon USA is under 'Electronics --> Television & Video --> Accessories --> Satellite Equipment'

Wish they had designed a tube bypass. It could come in the form of a bigger brain or something. :)
In one and the same DAC & HP Amp to be able to have the choice and switch between the tube sound, which you described as: ...But have that combine with vocals and they were quite gritty. As was the bass in techno music at elevated levels. During same passages, high frequency notes almost became unlistenable due to their harshness.
To then be able to by pass the tube and get an uncolored, below threshold for hearing regarding SINAD choice. Maybe there is only a tiny potential market for such a DAC & HP Amp though?

Thanks Amir your review, detailed measurements and listening tests of the xDuoo DM-01 Robot DAC & HP Amp.:)

The first iteration of the Douk Audiio 'X1' hybrid amplifier had a Tube Bypass switch on the front panel. In the current iteration of the X1, this was replaced with a Bass Boost switch:

Refreshing !
Thanks

Too bad they didn't offer a "Tube bypass" mode...

Performance is quite lower than announced as well (if that makes any difference): 1.2% THD+N vs 0.3% and 100dB SNR vs 116dB.

Yes! Or even just have the tube permanently bypassed and used as a decoration. That way they could eliminate some complexity and circuitry and therefore lower the price a bit.
