My eARC from a Sony Bravia to a Denon x4800h is about 40 (0-100) compared to HEOS, Wiim or Sonos digital streamers. It also will not play above 92, it's just stuck there (no clipping). I can't get movies loud enough, although they can be loud, it's nothing like the ear piercing loudness of the 2ch music.
We switch those inputs and the TV on and off a lot and often the AVR is on all day.
It's really become an annoyance to be blasted by music. It would be slightly better if the damn x4800h eARC volume control wasn't so painfully slow (via TV remote).
The x4800h has the ability to reduce an input by up to 12db, which I did (-12db on
the streamers) and that reduced the issue to about 15, still too much. I would be close if I could adjust eARC +12db but eARC input isn't adjustable in the x4800h even though others are.
Wiim and Sonos allow a preout adjustment out which works to compensate but there is still the fundamental issue that eARC is very quiet.
