Would you ever mix speaker colors?

In a room with exposed wooden beams and a large wooden hearth, would it be insane to add a walnut finish center to black Left and Right bookshelf speakers? The speaker cones themselves are black, there are black side accents, and a black cover...

No. Insane would be having left and right different.

I think I'd prefer my centre to match the l & r more than the decor but if black clashes I can see why you'd not want more of it.

In my lounge I have Rega Jura floor standers in Rosewood, a black Celestion C4 centre and white Mission M5DS bipolar rears. Nobody has ever mentioned the disparity in speaker colour, perhaps I have very polite friends and a forgiving wife?

It's a matter of taste, I would keep the center the same although I am mixing piano black LS50's with matte black subs.

In that set up with that much black on that rig, definitely keep black centre. If it was a lot more spread out and some wood on that end of the room, maybe get away with wood centre.

Well yes, I have the centre on an Indian rosewood cabinet sitting on a carbonized bamboo floor...

I have white standmounts for front left/right, black "wood" pattern centre and sub, and dark brown "wood" rears. As long as there's symmetry, I don't mind mixing.

No and people who do will find the resell value will be bad. Case in point, Dynaudio Confidence C1s usually sell for around 3-4k used, but, but a pair sold with almost no bidders for 1k a couple years ago because the seller was trying to get rid of one piano black and one walnut version in a mismatched pair...

I should have been more clear, I meant a center that is a different color than the mains.

I almost bought those. I was going to vinyl wrap them to a matching color. I ended up with a set of the platinums in rosewood though.
