Would there be an audible difference between the MiniDSP 2x4 HD vs Flex?

Hello everyone,

I know that the 2x4 HD didn't have the best DAC integration, and the Flex measures much better. But is there an audible difference between them? I will be running a pair of Neumann KH 150's on them.

I like to mess around on REW with custom curves and stuff, also I will be using a non-Neumann subwoofer.

The SINAD difference is in the area where it might be possible to discern, but unlikely without training etc... It's a defendable purchase if you have the budget. It's a much nicer piece of kit also, the 2x4 is very difficult to place.

Neumann use a CS42526 DAC/ADC chip inside the KH80 (Source).

This is likely identical in the KH150.

This chip has 100dB SINAD for both ADC and DAC. Both are active when using Line in.

As such, the SINAD difference between 2x4HD (102dB) and Flex (114dB) is negated and no audible difference can be expected as a result of this.
