Question, please... I know the consensus on here is it is ok to use a step down transformer (for Japanese amps 100 volts to be used in the USA 120 volts). But what about the frequency indifferences? I read where those can not be converted in a transformer. I read where a transformer can support both 50hz and 60 hz but will not convert them. Would the unconverter freq. difference effect the sound quality of a Class A japanese amp?

60 Hz will transfer more power through the transformer versus 50 Hz as it crosses the zero point and peak point 10 more times per second.. I highly doubt you can hear any difference.

Wouldn't it be bad that 60 hz more power is being transferred to the Japanese 100 volts?

Generally, powering 50Hz equipment from 60Hz is no problem whatsoever. The other way, using 50Hz to power 60Hz equipment, is a little iffier. Generally it works but at reduced maximum power.
