Would a passive radiator on an Auratone style speaker help create tighter bass more linear bass?

I plan on making a single driver speaker using a Dayton ND91 3 inch woofer.

I was considering adding a 4” passive radiator at the rear but wasn’t sure if it would cause more issues than it might fix…

I’m aiming for tight, flat bass, not extended bass.

A passive radiator is really no different than a bass reflex port.
Well, it's a little different (faster) in terms of the rate of roll off.

I think (?!) that the largest practical benefit of a PR is the elimination of port noise (insert classic Philip Roth novel joke here).
I guess if one screws up a PR tuning, it's -- potentially -- a little easier to fix than screwing up the volume of a BR port.

I don't think anything is likely to help a Horrortone. ;)

You can't get "bass" from a tiny speaker or a tiny box.
